Lets look back at all the games you played. Do you know what the *real* connecting thread between all your characters that died? It wasn't secrecy or roleplaying. It was
you. We have had plenty of successful Gods who acted mostly in secret (like Cim), and plenty of heavily roleplayed gods that acted openly (Like Captain Praven), the problem is that you always act more or less the same with your characters. You always get other Gods angry with your actions, and you expect them not to retaliate. You always fall for obvious traps and ambushes, even when they practically have a blinking "THIS IS A TRAP" sigh for you to *not* fall for it. You don't try to avoid fights by being clever or strong, and you never realized when you are outgunned. If nobody has this problem but you, you are probably the problem.
This time there wasn't any build up to a final confrontation or anything, but to have lost so much, almost a month's worth of build up to a gag? The grim reaper in his fortress, defeated not by something awesome or amazing or even clever, but some cheap joke with all the humour of a fart noise. It felt like my defeat was worth nothing and I lost so damn much of something I had sunk a very large amount of time into.
As you probably figured it out by DS calling it a number, that was Mani's creation. It couldn't talk by itself, so we where speaking through it. Again, the problem here was you. You saw an obvious trap and ran toward it head first, which wasn't clever or smart. If you had sat in your safe little fortress, you would have been fine for another tick at least. If you had run away, you would have been safe for longer.
You made the
worst move you possibly could have, without thinking of the consequences. Epic battles and clever rouses simply aren't needed to defeat you, because you always play like you would jump down a pit trap if there was an arrow above it pointing downward with the words "KANDY" written in blood.
Heroes respawn. I didn't permakill the dragon seeing as it was an undead construct rather than a necromancer so it'll come back on its own after a few Ticks.
The dragon wasn't *really* undead, as in it wasn't created by a necromancer. Remember when the laylines pumped out necromatic energy? This was a trap for Death, a known necromancer killer, with the necromancers as bait. Kats, however, did something unexpected and went to kill the necromacers herself. This would have ruined our plan and set the trap on her, so Mani created an "undead" dragon as a distraction to keep her away from the trap. This ended up being unnecessary, so the dragon was armored and re-purposed as a Divine Agent.
We all have our turn-offs. You want to know mine? Stupid shit. In YG0, we had a massive godly war of truly epic proportions. I spend days and weeks imagining the whole thing in my head. Great armies and powerful champions in a giant battle. That battle ended with an explosion out of nowhere, my most powerful archangel dying not in a climactic battle with Tykki or at least some other champion, but stupid fucking flying monkeys out of nowhere.
In YG4, now, everything I worked for gone because of some stupid coloured streaks, a stupid wisecracking undead dragon, and some stupid shark in a bubble of water. You want to talk about roleplay? Here's the God of Death embroiled in a theoretically dramatic and intriguing plot of genocide and necromancy, all of it ended by the most utterly stupid and random crap. That perhaps is what I hate most of all about Ye Gods. I get invested, I put effort and Essence and weeks into something and I take pride in it, then it's ended in an instant by a clown and an exploding pie come from absolutely fucking nowhere.
Tykki was the flying monkey. Nothing you ever made was anywhere close to being in the same tier as her, so she killed everything you tried to fight Fusil with without even trying. So I had her transform into a flying monkey and kill you, because you would never expect Fusil to have a flying monkey assassin. It was an intelligent and well planned move that just happened to be silly. All the "random crap" are stuff I made or caused in your example. The shark was there because Mani asked his time travelers where he would find Death, so the shark had to go there to avoid paradoxes.
Every action has a reason, just because you aren't bright enough to see it doesn't mean its random.
