That is the cutest encouragement I've seen from you in the past hour. You go, Cin! :D
I've been saying the same thing for longer than I like to admit, so don't get your hopes up. I'll try though :)
Also tiny bop to that kinda thinking, saying the same thing implies reinforcement; a nice thing you could do for yourself is saying the same encouraging or nice thing to yourself, or if you've been saying the same ":-\" thing, it may be time for a bit of adjective adjustment to match your capability and progress. :3
I mean, I only started drawing at 4th year High School (because back then, our system was different before K-12 came in), and I've learned a lot in between then and my childhood wherein I kept drawing stick figures! \o/ If you love something, you've to find ways to empower it up! :D

I guess my problem is I'm a perfectionist, and way too competitive; nothing's ever good enough if it comes from me, and I'm always comparing myself to other people. Hinders a lot of things, but if I get into something, it at least guarantees I'm absolutely awesome at whatever that is. Not that I get to into many things anymore, but...meh. I just need practice. Lots...and lots....of practice.

I deliberately make terrible art, it's liberating.

There's being bad on purpose, and then there's trying your hardest to be good and still being bad. The difference is what you're trying to do, even if the result is almost the same.

Must be fun to keep sabotaging yourself with technicalities.

Oh, you'd hate to see my thoughts if you think that's fun :D

I'll keep this brief, as someone with very similar characteristics in perfectionism and art, and who has gone through with it thanks to very good advice:
Must be fun to keep sabotaging yourself with technicalities.
Take this as a criticism. :P
Next, assess why you use comparisons as something to make conclusions upon. Question your own thoughts and why they're ending where they're ending. Best up: Go talk to your local Guidance Counselor if you're in any level of academia. They can help a lot with these matters if you start checking and knowing yourself, then talking about these things to get to know more insight about. The problem isn't merely being a perfectionist, but what maintains it and what makes you stop at that point just to conclude that 'this concept is me'. Why I keep suggesting the Guidance Counselor (or other such fields) are because they help you help yourself more; they don't provide solutions, they teach you how to provide solutions for yourself.

I think it's zero-indexed.

Oh, huh. Yeah, I didn't notice that the "month" thing was only added yesterday.
