Well, I've mostly filmed cosplayers at the convention. There's most of the cosplay expo event, as well as the notable encounters I've had in the main convention hall.

And, like any person who'd just held a camera for the first time, I need validation and love. So, here's what I've filmed: Youtube playlist.

Confession: I only watched half of the first video. But! Your camerawork is good, within the constraints of the system. It's kinda shaky, but that's hard to get rid of without a tripod. The sound quality is also way better than I expected, so kudos to either you or the con-goers for that.

The static in the cuts is ugly, if you ask me. A dissolve or something would be better.

Pretty much everything else was out of your hands, I'd say, so good job with what you had. I stopped watching because I found the subject matter boring (not your fault), not because of the video itself.

Film Major here. Don't do dissolves, static, or anything with the cuts, just cut.That's what looks the most professional 99% of the time. Insert a black title card if you really need something.

EDIT: On the whole, your depth of field, exposure (though there are parts where you're a teeny bit overexposed), and whitebalancing are pretty much on point. Shaky cam is just how it goes sometimes, so I can't fault you for that.

EDITEDIT: Also you do a pretty good job keeping shots well framed.

I think a title card. I didn't want to suggest a direct cut because it might be jarring given the nature of the subject.
