Interest check: Princess: the Hopeful
« on: July 14, 2016, 02:21:45 am »

A short discussion in the happy thread and a night's sleep led me to think there might be enough players for a campaign of Princess: the Hopeful (TV Tropes). I've never Storytold or otherwise GM'ed a larger, serious game, but nobody picked up the mantle and, well, there's always a first time. The game would be played weekly or semiweekly via VOIP, though I haven't ironed the details out yet.

Would there be any hope for this?

I'd play, but would I need any of the other World of Darkness books to play? I haven't done any of those.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

Unless we're doing a crossover, no.

Clarification: there is the core rulebook for the nWoD, but that one isn't freely available. I'll handle and explain things from that when needed.

Posting to watch. I would love to play P:tH but I'm not sure if my schedule works with VOIP. We'll see.

Oh, I missed that. What's VOIP?

I'm probably not going to be able to play if it's a real-time thing.

Voice Over Internet Protocol. Programs like Skype, Teamspeak or Discord, that use a computer's Internet connection to transmit speech over long distances in real time, much like a phone.

Sorry to hear that. I'd much prefer a format that allows nuance when playing a game like this, though I can compromise if there isn't enough interest otherwise.

we're gonna have to use our voices?
not completely keen about that part of the equation to be perfectly honest

Very unkeen, but interested in the premise.

You guys and your shyness. Microphones are God's gift to the internet.

I'll look through the rulebook and see if it strikes my fancy, I might be up for this depending on the exact schedule. Genius: the Transgression was definitely the tits, and maybe this is pretty good as well. And it helps to broaden the WoD experience.

i'm not entirely sure i own anything that can be legitimately called a microphone
the one in my laptop is more of a 'static generator' than anything else

Same here; I don't even actually own one, and my schedule is a bit erratic for real-time. Sorry. ^_^

I'm also a card-carrying member of the shitty laptop microphone brotherhood, but I tend to be able to offset it by using programs with easy push-to-talk.
