There is no option for turning this off within the game although there probably is a means to alter the raws to do it. If all else fails and you really want to cheat the system you can always just have DFhack generate a new candy replacements whenever you see any wear on an piece of gear. DFhack can conjure items out of thin air whenever you want them with the "createitem" command.

There is already are dfhack scripts to adjust wear

from LNP dfhack.init:
Quote
# make crafted cloth items wear out with time like in old versions (bug 6003)
tweak craft-age-wear

# stop adamantine clothing from wearing out (bug 6481)
tweak adamantine-cloth-wear

It might be possible to tweak one of them - especially the second one - to apply to armor/weapons. Perhaps ask in respective thread?

The thing is tht right now the most unnerving bugs for me are that items with wear arent autodumped and its slowly eating away my framerate and that my military dwarfs arent always equiping all their gear, so combining equipment with wear is the horror for me :(

Does wear affect named weapons/sheilds?
Do military dwarfs freak if they get destroyed?
a military tantrum spiral would be serious FUN.

Yes and *shrugs*

I'd bet the bad thoughts by them getting 30x "Was absolutely humilated to wear degraded clothes." when armor gets scuffed would be worse.

Has anyone done any testing of wear during sparring? I'm thinking the new mechanic could make training gear useful now, but not if sparring has no effect.
