"Yes. The short version is that it's a spell that will passively record the characteristics of every sword I come across and make that data accessible later so I can summon a duplicate."

"Sounds rather similar to a user database, except it's for swords, so you would have lengths and blade types instead of usernames and passwords."

"It's several layers more complex than that, but it is a database, yes."

"I'm sure you're getting very specific if you're summoning a sword. It'd be incredibly annoying to want to summon a broadsword and end up with a dagger or vice versa. Any unique features or enchantments on a sword would make it even more difficult."

"Precisely. To get a blade right you need every measurement, material composition, and some way to reliably replicate any magical effects tied to it. On that front, it's fortunate that it has an automatic safeguard in the form of running off of my own perception; anything too complex for my understanding will be safely put away or discarded."

"Just hope you don't run into any enchantments you can't perceive. Those tend to be rather...'interesting'."

Camrin's eyes become unfocused for a few seconds, as if he is remembering something.

Edwinn hastily puts his game on sleep mode, and pockets it.

"Oop, sorry, I was in the middle of a really hard fight. So, I'm just here because a school where you study magic and alchemy and stuff and fight monsters sounded like the place for me. And as for the whole black coffee thing, sorry to break the fad, but I seriously can't handle black coffee. It's just way to bitter for me. I like my coffee well-sweetened, with plenty of honey and cream."

"I like my coffee black because it's so bitter. I guess I always did have a bit of a sour tooth."

"I came here by choice, but looks can be very deceiving, so I'd wait to say if this place is terrible or not."

"I enjoy coffee beans, but the actual drink eludes my palate.  I just can't really tell much of a difference in most respects from plain water.  Caffeine powder is truly a gift though."

"I'll agree with that."

"So do any of you guys specialize in one specific type of magic?"

"Well, I can't say I specialize in ONE type of magic, but I mainly just use magic to augment my own toughness and agility, which I think counts as two. I mainly use that magic to improve my fighting style. I also do alchemy, which is kinda pseudo-magic."

"I always thought alchemy and self-boosting spells were interesting, but I never really got the chance to learn anything. I have heard stories of some very impressive things done, however."

"Yeah, I've heard tell of people who have mixed elixirs of eternal life or given themselves the strength of gods in a single casting. I am nowhere near there. Although, if you want, I might be able to weave a little magic to make you a bit more dexterous for a while."
