The Democratic party will never recover from this. The party deserves to die, now and forever, for what its hubris has done to the nation.

There are no words for what must happen to the Republican party.

Are the DNC and GOP not the ones who put forward their 'preferred' candidates for people to vote on in the primary?  that certainly is the way its worked my entire life.
Did we watch the same primaries? GOP the party seemed to absolutely hate Trump. The other candidates reportedly conspired together to try to stop Trump from reaching the required delegates count. Trump was not the "preferred" candidate at all, I don't think.

He was still on their ballot, and none of the dissidents ran against him, did they now?  They fell in line and voted republican, because party loyalty overcomes revulsion.

They chose to not obviously rig their own convention in the end, nothing more. The rest is politics and doesn't count.

Ohh they certainly tried, they just failed because Trump steamrolled them.

In the same way that you can Gerrymander (Ugh probably got that wrong) all you want and create the most oblong districts... But if the vote is 80% there is nothing you can do. (I think the absolute limit if you were PSYCHIC is less than 75%)

*Ahem*

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's not quite over yet, but I wouldn't want to be Clinton right now. I wonder if the "rust belt strategy" is going to become a thing from here on out.

Yes because turmoil that will last 4-8 years short term... and can have far reaching effects for years or even decades after that... isn't a big deal :P

It isn't like people's lives and livelihood aren't hanging in the balance. :P

Trump is continuing to gain ground in Pennsylvania. At .6% difference between him and Clinton now.

Jesus Christ. PA was blue I think since they first started reporting, with a good margin between Clinton and Trump. What a comeback.

lol guys, it's not the end of the country
I remember when Obama won in 08 and republicans were screaming about the end of the US. This will probably be the same. Probably.

Democrats screaming about the failure of democracy and the end of the world? Of course!

Everybody always thinks the world is going to end because they lose.
