Nah, people just keep falling into the trap of dumping competence early for the ideological requirements -- it works in lower level stuff but not so much higher. That and not sucking it up and taking the penalties involved with splashing some major party platform picks, instead of stubbornly speccing only sideline loadouts. It could work, it's just all the folks using the builds are scrubs or prefer farming easier content :V

I gave up on America. Even if you get a populism train going, why even bother if you're just going to lose to some pay-to-win bullshit? Hopefully the Europe DLC will be more fun, using proportional representation to get neo-Nazis in power or form Eurabia.

The biggest problem is that you're locked out of the "Party Financing" perk at State-level and above. No matter how solid your build and play skill is, you can't tank a $50,000,000 hit from someone playing one of the standard two-party builds.

Doesn't help though, that most third-party builds are just for trolling or people who were too edgy and/or obnoxious and got kicked out of the major guilds.

I'm confused by that (other than 'Don't get the cleric/primary healer(s) killed!'), and youtube captions on just makes it more confusing. Mostly it sounds like stuff players are saying (or screaming) to each other before a major boss fight or during the boss fight.

And yes, I've been in major boss battles in MP games before.

Dude, xxXXxxMcMuffinxxXXxx was literally AFK for half the finals and he was still able to build an organization in Utah despite being naked and like 5 levels behind.  Trump didn't even go for a Party Financing build in the finals this year.  Dont blame IceFrog for the fact that Gary Johnson left his courier in Aleppo the entire game or Jill Stein's inventory consists of nothing but six homeopathic recipes.

As I said, troll/newb/2edgy4u builds.

McMuffin is trying to do a standard build in a guild that thinks the Trump minmax White Power build is the new meta. It worked well in qualifiers, but now he's facing opponents who took Immunity to Dogwhistle as part of their perks.

I don't think Trump gimmicks will have a lasting impact on the meta. No doubt we'll see dumbasses running it from now until the end of time, but people will also know how to counter it early, and I doubt the meta will ever be perfect for it to work again. Maybe we'll see a patch addressing it, but the braindead devs won't even revert the Citizens United update after what, 6 years?

The thing with the Trump build is that it's more perk-based, not class based. He got good scenarios to really use his "10 Feet Higher" ability with his unique (albeit edgy) build, which actually has damage scaling inverse to PAC money. His passive "Tear Down the Establishment" also scales armor inversely to PAC money, so he really has no motive to invest in a costly build that would make him feed for the mid-lategame anyway when he has armor and damage to spare.

Will we see this again? It depends on how many people will pick perks so strategically as Trump.

Well Trump is a serious power gamer who exploits the rules.

Such as, for example, the bankruptcy rules.

Unfortunately for Trump, he took the Sexual Predator negative trait in exchange for whatever other positive trailt/skill he has. Which, while concealed for the most part, is really ruining him once the weakness is exposed.

For the "Merikan" region, though, there's an added nerf to bankruptcy damage. Other regions have more difficulty recovering from bankruptcy penalties, but Merikan players are more likely to get shot so it balances out.

Unfortunately for Trump, he took the Sexual Predator debuff in exchange for whatever other buff he has. Which, while concealed for the most part, is really ruining him once the weakness is exposed.

Trump played foolishly in this case. Normally you'd take the bleed and pull from the fight, but he decided to stay in and use 0 abilities. The damage over time for the News Class's "Focus Flame" is immense (not to mention exponential once supports contribute) and he did nothing to counter it. His passive did nothing either, so he was fucked.

It is kinda breathtaking that his build has such a shrewd grasp of mechanics, but during the actual match, he's just flailing at the keys. With his tiny, tiny hands.

It's one of those "Great on paper" builds. Makes you wonder how it would have fared with a better player at the controls.

Trump took the sexual predator debuff in an earlier ruleset back when being White, Male, and Rich earned you the right to sexual harass women.

It wasn't his fault the rules changed on him... It is just what happens when you grandfather a character.
