Sideline fun. In an article that sounds like the title from the Onion, MSNBC Presents, Green Party candidate Jill Stein escorted off debate premises, resorts to Twitter
So the candidates are so weak, they must be protected from opposition.

Yes.  They are terrified of Jill Stein.  If she gets close their wifi projectors will be sabotaged.
So, what prevented a Hillary Clinton presidential campaign during 2004?

I'm of the opinion that while it's totally fine to be an activist or even an activist president, she still needs to act presidential and not pull stunts like that while running for president.
What is presidential behavior? (Serious question. I mark these, not because my previous questions are frivolous, but because I cannot otherwise indicate seriousness through this medium)

She was still in her first term as Senator, for one. And maybe she felt like it wasn't the right time, lots of reasons.

What is presidential behavior? (Serious question. I mark these, not because my previous questions are frivolous, but because I cannot otherwise indicate seriousness through this medium)

I'd say it's a subset of what might be called "grown-up" or "adult" behavior. Thinking before you speak, not flapping your hands around for no reason, not making up words, not interrupting others while they're speaking.

Then you can get into stuff like projecting an image of confident strength, someone you can trust and look up to, and not be embarrassed by the idea of them as your representative to the rest of the world.

Whether or not the candidates met the second standard, one of them pretty clearly didn't get the idea about the first one, that was absurd even before the rambling started. "Uh, wait, are you giving me the answer to the question I asked you ten minutes ago when you started talking about something entirely different while claiming you were addressing something the other candidate said?"

I'm very disappointed that people will call this in any way a positive outcome for Trump, though I'm expecting it to happen nonetheless.

both really unlikeable.

Plenty of people like both candidates.

And even more don't.

Yes but he didn't say they were hatable.  He said they were unlikeable.  I like Clinton.  Therefore she is likeable.  If you want to talk in a less literal sense, so do many other people: http://www.gallup.com/poll/187922/clinton-admired-woman-record-20th-time.aspx

So you consider libeability to be a binary characteristic? And as long as at least one person likes someone, that person can be describe as libeable? Is Hitler likeable?

I mean, no offense, but people on average a more likely to dislike Clinton that like her. Much more so. We can go in the details of how exactly she managed to get her character assassinated and when, but now the character is pretty much dead.

...Mainiac, 13% of American put Hillary Clinton as their number one. That is a majority far and wide over the next, but that's not the same as her being actually liked. Seriously, and you've probably already seen this link. 13% of people admiring her over any other woman is not the same as a lot of people liking her. It implies it, but the favorability ratings reveal the opposite.

Be as literalistic (because you aren't being literal: unlikable literally is defined as 'not likable' with likable being defined as 'pleasant, friendly, and easy to like'.)  as you please, doesn't change the way language is used as opposed to constructed.

Although on the bright side I think she's still probably more honest than her husband, even if I go on a merry rollercoaster ride of confidence in her integrity as new information rolls in. But again, she's like Bill: She doesn't usually seem to use subterfuge w/ regards to the big stuff. Might not make the right choice, but I figure odds are she'll be honest about it, or as honest as a president who isn't Obama can get. (Only he has the voice to make 'I admit it. We fucked up.' presidential. Imagine Hillary saying that. It just doesn't fit.)

Well, I've missed the debate (because it was three hours in the fucking morning), but it looks like I've missed nothing important. Aside from Trump getting #TURBOREKT as expected by any sane person. Even some of the most die-hard Republicans I know are calling it a "tie", and that has almost never happened before.

I wonder how will the people who boldly predicted that Trump would successfully "troll" Clinton due to him being a "master manipulator" and Clinton being "vulnerable to being provoked" explain THAT one.

To that last bit, well, he's clearly playing the long game, serg. After this, clinton will be less on guard for the next debate, in which he'll destroy her as was his plan all along.

... naturally, if he has another poor performance, he will retroactively have been playing the long long game, and intends to do such two (three, four, etc.) debates out.

I consider unlikeability to be a binary characteristic.

I mean, no offense, but people on average a more likely to dislike Clinton that like her.

And two years ago she had a favorability rating in the 60s.  Unlikeable people are not liked by super majorities.

Is Hitler likeable?

Likeability is not a static attribute. Just look at Bill Cosby.

That was the closest moment we got to internet memes entering the debate, my heart skipped when I heard that.

She didn't use the words 'fucked up' though.
