Some rando woman?  How the fuck should I know?
(Oh, it's the woman. I thought that was LW's nickname for KARE11, like how he does...)

Trump just discreetly called for the assassination of Hilary. Again.
*sigh*

Let's be honest though, this was pretty awesome.

He's not even president yet and I'm already looking forward to seeing what he does for his first State of the Union address.

At the very least I'm expecting some top-tier memes about fiscal solvency.
They're cheering being compared to cheese-eating surrender monkeys? What kind of red-meat conservatives are these?

A possible Les Mis thing was what came to my mind first when hearing about the "deplorables" quote, but I didn't expect Trump supporters to find a reference to a musical funny, however well-known it is. The reference to the stupid action movie seemed much more natural.

Then again, this is the probably the same elitism that makes trump so easy to underestimate, so maybe I should raise my meme expectations.

... mostly because we haven't actually replaced our politicians with robots, yet. The seat thing's there to keep shit from getting too unwieldy. If all they were doing was giving a vote it wouldn't really matter much, but there's a hell of a lot more a representative is expected to do, and a lot of that involves interacting with other representatives. If there's fifty thousand representatives good goddamn luck with that.
Essentially it'd be just like a normal representative system, just that not all representants would have equal voting power.

The issue of parliament becoming too huge could easily be solved by upping the number of votes required to get in. Speaking time could be allotted in a similar way - more votes mean more time, with pooling being allowed - to prevent pointless filibustering by minor candidates.

That all sounds like a wonderful way to set up a system where power consolidates around a single group forever, letting them do whatever they want and sink into corruption.

Holy shit did you hear the sheer panic in her voice? And to think that I used to respect Maddow.

C-can we just, I dunno, burn down U.S. politics and start over? The only people I can even remotely identify with or take seriously are in the progressive core that avoided the SJW regressive pit trap and the dozen or so moderate conservatives that are left. We maybe have enough sane, self-aware, politically active people to populate and govern a small, rocky atoll somewhere in the Pacific, seems like sometimes.

I mean damn we're getting to the point where trolls poking grumpy disconnected old people and the easily triggered with shitty memes are displaying stronger critical thinking skills than major public figures.

This is why the "hidden village of wise masters" trope always rings true for me...I can totally see wise masters saying "fuck this shit" and splitting to some nook in the Himalayas or deepest Africa or somewhere in Nebraska.

If you bitch about social justice warriors without a trace of irony you have zero right to bitch about trump.

This seems like a perfectly reasonable idea to me.
