Dude. Yesterday you were blaming me for ratcheting things up when I wasn't even involved. Am I allowed to type anything anymore?
Sorry mate. I'm just defensive of this thread, and perhaps overzealous. I like the politics threads, and the specter of them  getting closed worries me. I don't have much I do over the summer, and I enjoy reading these threads even when I'm not here. Ignore me if I overstep then.
Same.  It's pretty cool that we get to have these threads at all though, considering how civil we need to be.  I kinda like the result.  It's... somewhat distilled.
Don't worry, once my evil plot to get every thread but the DPRK thread locked comes to fruition, the horrible amalgamation of minds created from the Lower Forumites will never again know civility, distillation, or strife as we spread to consume the entire world for the glory of socialist juche.

I think that went well. My personal props go to Michelle Obama on her magnificent speech. She delivered that beauty flawlessly.

I'm annoyed that no matter what Sanders said, my mother, despite all of her support for Sanders, will still consider Clinton a spawn a satan. Of course, my mother has her own, twisted, reasons for that (she will never forgive the Clintons for intervening in Yugoslavia), but she's amazingly obnoxious about it and I often have to put my sister straight when she parrots some of the stuff my mother says. Still, what I heard of Sanders speech sounded like a real full-throated endorsement.
For better or worse, Hillary Rodham Clinton is our only hope now.

That's a thing I will be using in the future.

I should look that up. I got distracted by internet problems so I missed most of the speeches. Hey guys, poll: Which speeches should I actually go back and watch, which should I read, and which should I read the news articles' version of?

Apparently Michelle's was the best of the night, so I'm gonna need to go back and actually watch it. She is an excellent speaker.

Others: Warren's was eh, Sanders' was worth a listen but did go a bit long. I missed Booker's as well, so dunno about that one. Worth listening to as many as you can, though, just to get an idea what the heckling was like. It got pretty bad at times.

Obama's and Booker's speeches were masterful.

And actually, Sanders' speech was well-constructed to prevent booing. Whenever he mentioned her by name, it was typically in the context of a policy that his supporters wouldn't boo (like nixing the TPP). I think he (or his writers) deserve some credit for that.

I think he did get some boos at one point, though that may have been at Trump when he was talking about Trump, not sure.

At the very least he got chanted off the stage with "We will not yield."

You know, maybe Sanders made the right decision by not conceding the primary until the very end. He managed to push forward nearly all of his platform stuff, including stuff that was outright declared by some people as "delusional", like 15$ minimum wage, alongside with breaking up big banks and free public university education.

It sure seems that he didn't lose any political influence by not quitting early. In fact, he may have had much more influence than he would have had otherwise. This is certainly a historical decision on his part, one that may be followed by many more candidates in the future.

Michelle's done now. That was a pretty good speech, too.
Yeah, there's a good set of balanced speeches. Not all attack dog stuff, which is good to see.

Even Warren is getting shouted over by a few. Sounded like "We must refuse", which was a missed opportunity. Should have gone with "We Must Dissent".
