Uh
You can't have an election in 2057
It's kind of an odd year
It was a leap year.

Can't you call an election early or something? Seems kinda arbitrary to say "ELECTION MUST BE ON LEAP YEARS AND NEVER ELSE"

The previous president, Trump Clone #7, suffered an unfortunate accident that had nothing to do with mr Dunkelzahn.

I just got why Dunkelzahn sounds weird to me. It literally means 'dark-tooth' - that dragon simply has bad oral hygiene.

I'm going to do the smart thing here and disengage. This isn't a hill I paticularly care to die on.

Well, if you want a dragon as POTUS, shadowrun would be what you're looking for. Most of  'em are even fairly decent critters by the standards of the setting. Dunkelzahn 2057!
He then died. Rest in peace.

now i wanna go read shadowrun stories, ugh fuck politics

Dunkelzahn died for our sins but actually to hasten to coming of the Horrors because he was possessed by one all along.

That's not how Presidential elections work
Dunkelzhan 2056 or bust though.
2056 elections were found to be rigged, Congress nullified the results and called for a special election in 2057.

Which should give us all hope for the Dragon/Giant Meteor '17 ticket.

Yeah, you should totally have elections happen every 0.4 years. That way, politicians will always have to follow the will of the people! Isn't that what's democracy all about, following the will of the people, even if it's incredibly dumb and self-destructive a la Brexit?

There's a number of reasons to call an election sooner, or sometimes delay it. Stable leadership through wartime, ferex., or maybe the leader dies, or is really shit, or whatever. Having it rigidly defined is needlessly restricting.

Rigidity of USA is why it's never been a dictatorship, and why it will not become one any soon. Besides, there's the well-defined USA government line of succession, which takes care of any of the "stable leadership" issues.
