Meh, that was a different era, before MOAR DAKKA became a bonafide red-blooded conservative value. I don't see it be likely to lead to gun control so much as lead to further militarization of the police.

Edit: More seriously, it's also about when police use military equipment. Yes, there are times when police might need drones to kill active shooters, but those should be very very rare. Gun use is also important - when should police try to kill someone rather than attempting to capture them?

I honestly would prefer Judge Dredd to your average cop, not even kidding. Dredd doesn't have any of the cowardly violent paranoia that leads to most of these things.

Dredd is awesome as a person, its his job title that got knickers in a twist

Imagine if in addition to your police, your judges walked around the streets piloting bomb droids into criminals
