I use greasemonkey on firefox myself, and yes, it is an amazing script. I'm so happy!

Also: I'm only technically aware that there is such a thing as a "youtube community" but if it's anything like the comments sections then it sounds kinda like being the most reputable member of a foodfight in an insane asylum full of nazi horsekin and other assorted weirdos. So while they may in fact be very well informed and salient, I'm not reaching over to turn up the volume most of the time unless it's baby animal noises, a sexy sounding engine, or the lovely banshee wail of one Florence Welch and her Machine... oh, or the Mountain Goats, been on a kick of those two for a while now.

yes because the same effort is involved in making a 20 minute animated and researched video as there is involved in spending 2 seconds to type "hitler did nothing wrong" and thus the barrier to entry is the same for both, leading to the same degenerate denominator dominating in both categories

fuckin' internet hipsters.

Heh, I guess I can see how it sounds that way, sure, I'm just saying that listening to something besides music isn't why I go to youtube, so the rest of my experience there is reading, which I've learned is often a painful experience if you accidentally scroll down and look to the left.

i don't really get how people can "go to youtube" to do something. It's a video hosting site. Regardless of WHERE that video is hosted, the content is the same. Vimeo, liveleaks, huffpo, etc. The content is the same. The medium is not the message here :V

tho personally that video was kinda mediocre so I'm not saying "hey yo watch it bitch" but still... It's kinda weird.

Max i don't think you can rate the veracity of informational videos off of comments on music videos. "Videos" spans the entire gamut of human knowledge domains, and youtube is the one of the most widely used websites on the planet. Plus of course, people who comment on articles aren't necessarily the same community as those who write the articles.

What you're saying is about as fallacious as saying you're going to avoid watching all live action movies because you spend all your time on Pornhub and have noticed how sexual it is, and how bad the acting is, therefore all live action movies suck.

Note that I wasn't rating the VERACITY, just that I dislike the method.

How long does it take to listen to something, how long does it take to read the same information?

Maybe it's a generational thing? Seems like video presentation might be nice compared to reading a bunch of shit on a smartphone, but it's more comfy reading on a big monitor, so I only want video when it's something worth fullscreening or shrinking and putting in another tab while I do other stuff. Whatever the message may be, it's just not the medium that I consume that information in, given the choice. I'd rather read a transcript than sit through the video.

This does actually tie back into politics though: an old fuckbag like Trump was able to capitalize on twattering and whatnot enough to actually trick people into taking them seriously, it's scary to imagine what we'll have to deal with when more media-savvy people with an actual understanding of political reality start getting into the game.

I swear to the nonexistent gods, more than half the time someone references trump and then says something along those lines, if it's not ensconced in a premise embedded in alt-right nonsense the answer is actually clinton. I've noticed it happening a lot, and it keeps happening. It's starting to get disconcerting, really.

But yeah, her (and probably her campaign even moreso -- whoever she's paying to handle her twitter account probably deserves a raise) have definitely been working the media-savvy pretty effectively, from what I've seen. It's probably been drowned out to some degree by the tidal wave of bile and panic coming out of the other side of political divide this election but seriously. It's not like some of the political operators that don't have sod odd idea what they're doing haven't figured out this whole internet thing well enough. It's just not as overtly attention catching as some of the crap that's been happening this go around. It's hard to catch attention like trump's been, internet wise, and not be an ongoing wreck what is on fire and covered in poo.

@Frumple ...What?

As far as her twitter account, it wavers between annoying, lazy, propaganda and embarrassing out-of-touch-ness. Barely even worth paying attention to and if someone is getting paid for it, she's paying too much in my opinion. On the other hand whoever has control over it is probably trying to stay as uncontroversial as possible given how the opposite example has backfired in Trump's face more than once.

Why is Megyn Kelly's fascination with sex national news? I've had CNN on mute all day and keep seeing this headline, but haven't bothered to actually listen to the story...
Late to the punch, but I'm pretty sure it's because of this Fox News clip.

Short version: Megyn is interviewing Newt Gingrich; she brings up the allegations against Trump (using the phrase "sexual predator") and Newt loses his shit, telling her to just drop it and that she's apparently "fascinated by sex". Our man Newt seems to be having problems these days.

Weird I don't see him being that beaten up by the confront, on the contrary it was quite interesting watching the ancor word dodging like a scrabble champion around the Clinton issue. If his objective was highlighting different treatment of issues by the media, mission accomplished.
