I can't believe Trump didn't expect her to say that and have a better response ready.  You could have seen that coming months away.  He was baited into an incoherent rant and then a subject change.

In Trump's world, the Dreaded Emails are the bane of Clinton, keeping her up at night in obsession that her secret plan to sell American secrets to all our enemies and get random soldiers killed for no reason was exposed by the light of the Trump.

'I admit it. We fucked up.' Imagine Hillary saying that. It just doesn't fit.)

She did say this during the debate when the question of her emails came up.

She didn't use the words 'fucked up' though.

I assumed that choice of phrase was hyperbole. I have to admit I've not paid that close attention to Obama speeches and figured he didn't actually say 'fucked'. If he did, and that's like, the literal phrasing that RPG was going for (which isn't what I got from the context of his post but maybe) then okay sure never mind.

In Trump's world, the Dreaded Emails are the bane of Clinton, keeping her up at night in obsession that her secret plan to sell American secrets to all our enemies and get random soldiers killed for no reason was exposed by the light of the Trump.

In Trumps world: He saw birtherism as an ugly question choking up american politics because a lazy president who couldn't be bothered to put it to rest, but then though the power of his charisma he forced the question to be answered once and for all. And then spent the next four years continuing to ask it because 'no one else was'.

I have to say, the thing that probably rusted my jimmies most about this debate is Trump repeatedly harping on people Taking the Fifth as evidence of their guilt. That's a twisted way to disparage one of the fundamental rights of the legal system, and while probably even most Trump approved judges would know better, it's still a worrying prospect.

Which came from not practicing, while Clinton practiced as much as possible and had answers for just about everything. Trump just continued using his usual stump speech stuff.

Also: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/trump-climate-change-stance-228771 Eh? Why now, right after a debate?

Though it's still somewhat denial because there really are human caused factors driving it. However, one could still plausibly argue how much of it is naturally driven and how much of it is human caused because there are natural proccesses that have kicked in as well.

Trump 101, if you aren't on the attack do something, anything to change the narrative.

Clinton may believe in gun control, but it was Trump who brought the knife and Clinton who brought the gun in these final seconds.

I'm just disappointed Trump didn't do something new. I was hoping he'd misbehave; he did, but not as much as I'd like. I want polls.

What I found low-key interesting after the debate was done that the Clintons were rather quick to greet each other, then the crowd. The Trumps were equally quick to greet each other, but then sort of... Clumped on stage. They stayed in an awkward unit while the Clintons were off shaking hands with people.

I don't think this will factor out to be much of anything, but it was interesting.

Seconding Misko though. I am eager to see the polls.

I laughed out loud at their immediate actions right after it was over.

Clinton goes right up to Lester and shakes his hand.

Trump lines up right behind Clinton as if he intends to do the same, then turns away and wanders off a few steps at the very moment he should have had his turn.  Lester's body language looks mildly shocked and insulted, and the gesture looks like it's intentional.  Then like 10 seconds later, he turns back to Lester and seems to play it off as "oh sorry dude got distracted".

That's just ADD man.  You get caught up in your thoughts and forget to think about what the proper etiquette is for a situation.  Happens to me all the time.

Sure, me too.  It was just the body language involved.  And that it's Trump, who I have no doubt added Lester to his little black book of People to Ruin Once I'm Boss of the USA as soon as he got off stage.

Haha, I missed that!  I did see the "I woulda said something harsh but she brought her daughter, maybe she shouldn't have done that...".  Freakin classy.

Whew.  I watched live on TYT stream and didn't end up drinking, it was tough enough keeping track of my friends on Skype (also TYT interjected occasionally too).  I think that went really well!

Just finished catching up with this thread and I found myself agreeing with the general sentiments, lol.  What a ride.
I know right?  I had my brother on Skype, and that was probably the biggest sticking point (well except that he kept calling her a liar, but that's a whole visit to Politifact away).  I don't want to call him on it directly, but he believes very strongly in citizens being innocent until proven guilty and amendment protections, because the police are corrupt scumbags and all that...  But then turns around and says that same corruption is why Hillary should be treated as guilty after being cleared.

Of course, she outright admitted she made a mistake, but he acts like she was as malicious as Trump was as he scammed and ruined hundreds of thousands of people in his ventures.

Are you guys really so confident that anything happened here that will effect the vote?  Or is this echo-chambering because Hillary's style appeals better to our collective lean?  Because I don't get the impression that Trump did anything that would jeopardize his conservative base.  His whole debate read like a typical conservative Facebook post to me.  Random guy in Indiana could post that junk and most of the state would enthusiastically like and re-share.  Just how much undecided, moderate vote is really out there these days that would be swayed one way or another vs whatever their lean was before the debate?
This is a totally valid concern, and I don't think Trump's going to lose core voters over this.  Or basically anything - like he said, he could shoot someone.  I saw Facebook the other day and the posts from some of my own family in the country were even worse than I expected, which is saying something.

But I think debates matter a lot to moderates.  And even to liberal undecideds, this election.  I was seriously going to vote for Jill Stein a couple weeks ago, as a protest vote.  Her unpresidential antics are actually arguably positive in that regard, maybe, maybe not.  But she stands by some rather crazy positions, which was making it hard to be sure.  This debate helped me decide.

Debates aren't about the issues, the issues have been out there to examine for months.  A debate is about "Can this person be a strong, charismatic representative?"  My take-away is that Clinton can firmly argue our interests with aggressive foreign leaders and with congress.  (I mean, duh, she was secretary of state, successful senator, and an active (if unsuccessful) first lady... but it's important to see it here)

What I will do is *actually* protest the two-party system.  Going out there with a sign even once is probably worth a few dozen votes for Stein.
