The only actual similar part of it is oligarchies running a big part of the show, as is traditional in communist regimes :U

Okay but dumbasses in toupees aside does anyone know how fucked Chelsea Manning is, exactly?
I don't think there's much new info about that... she could be eligible for parole in a few years, but who knows...

The 1,182 days he has spent in confinement since he was arrested in May 2010 will be applied toward his term. Added to the military’s extensive credits for good behavior, Manning could be eligible for parole in about 8 years, when he is 33.

Ever notice how similar corrupt communism and Amurrican capitalism are?
Well, there's also a little bit of a difference, in that USA doesn't have a giant barbed wire around it with a guard system designed to kill people trying to flee the country, also, it doesn't have bread lines and massive deficit of basic goods, but those are just minor details, right? ::)

Details tiny like flea's ballsack*, not worth mention for strong anti-capitalist.

*It may or may not be flea kaijuu, big enough to use tokyo tower as toothpick. There are many sizes of hypothetical flea, particularly if we're in the lands of discourse where discarding the square-cube law isn't an egregious action, comparatively.

Bigger difference is that instead of only the top 0.1% controlling the government, it's the top 10%.

It's hundreds of times more democratic, don't you see!?

Welp, now she's being investigated for "serious administrative offenses related to taking her own life."

Not looking good. At all. :C

It does indeed have lots and lots of barbed wire and a pretty fucking massive deficit of basic goods for those who need them most. But yeah, if the barbed wire is supposed to keep the people out, then it must be kinda okay, right?

A degree of border control is kinda necessary for a functioning state

The need to keep people out is usually less of a sign of dystopia than the need to keep them in.

Shooting everyone who tries to leave is pretty dysfunctional. (see: GDR)

Shooting everyone who tries to enter is pretty dysfunctional as well. :/

Yeah, it is. Not sure what that has to do with the US, though. There's skeevy shit happening on the state side of the equation along that border but it hasn't exactly reached the point of indiscriminate mass murder of border crossers.
