All this talk of protest votes and people don't remember that the presidential elections in the US are indirect. Your votes don't matter much because the real votes are cast by a group of electors selected previously and probably bribed/coerced by corporations and powerful parts of the government. Isn't that how Bush W won, even?

Even if everyone decided to vote for Walt Disney, Hillary would be elected because she's pro-Wall Street while Trump is... I don't even know.
Electoral college votes in line with the voters 99% of the time AFAIK, it's needless abstraction but not particularly corrupt in practice.

No. This is a stupid system that's made for a bygone era, but it has literally never caused a change in the outcome of a presidential election as compared to a system where electors don't exist (but otherwise works the same way what with a location based point system.) The idea that the  electors are some shadowy and corrupt group that secretly (or not so secretly) control who is president and the popular vote doesn't matter is frankly laughable.

Chad is like the white bread version of shaft, don't hate on Chad just because he's a preppy douchebag who doesn't know when to pull out.

If this was reddit we would have banned the wikibot by now, also I can chew popcorn without fear of admincrimes.
You realise I was making a joke about chads not pulling out of the ballots correctly? A joke doesn't work so well when you explain it, but there was subtext about ejaculation during unprotected sexual intercourse, which is a thing upper class guys like Chad might do while fixing elections and planning world domination with their 1%er slush fund.

Which is why Reddit is considered a shining example of political discourse.

TBH the subreddit I'm thinking of is political discussion of dank memes and teen angst.

The Republican Platform is coming out, and so far it seems... Victorian. Did you guys know that Pornography is the great public health crisis of our time?

Did you know some progressive political groups in Iceland also think that to some extent? (Or so I've been told)

... to an extent would be accurate for a lot of progressive groups. Though a very small extent related to "great public health crisis of our time". There being some health issues involved that could be handled better, sure, is a fairly common position. Think cali's got the condom thing, there's pushes to get better healthcare handling involved in places, stuff like that. Basically attempts to cut back on the genuinely negative aspects of the industry (worker exploitation, health risks, etc.).

EDIT: oh, and when I said I was out, I meant out of mainiac's thread about the Clinton emails. I intend to behave here, though. Call it a unilateral ceasefire.

It is totally consistent when you realize that they only oppose other religions theocracies.

People should vote for what they want.  :)
A pity that they vote for what they think they want, most of the time. When they even know that.

(No, not a dig at recent events.  I'm including several decades of prior in that.)
