Yeah, that's what I was thinking myself 'Is that even legal? Pretty sure it isn't.' Inheriting is a completely different thing though.

Uh, back to English: Perfectly legal. He didn't buy it or barter for it, it was gifted personally. As far as I know, it's only illegal to sell/exchange a medal for something of value. Or put it in the mail. I doubt you guys would argue that Trump running for Pres. is something of value.
