I await Clinton fans to start lash at Sanders for not quitting on time as an excuse for her loss.
It's already happened, and not just Sanders. Maddow last night was alternating between having a mental breakdown and blaming Gary Johnson for taking voters from Clinton. Yes, you read that right.
Well he did, though??
Liberals who thought the election was in the bag (here in NORTH CAROLINA) so they voted to support a third party system. Libertarians tend to be okay on moral issues, or at least "The government shouldn't force stuff".
And then it helps because liberals were, like, almost more eager to tear down Clinton than the conservatives were. Thanks to Saint Sanders the Independent supposedly not getting fair treatment after turning Democrat (when the reality is the DNC held his hand for much of the process, despite owing him nothing). I wish we had O'Malley, you know, someone with some stake in the party.
So yeah, a lot of liberals convinced themselves that Clinton was Satan and voted for Johnson.
Speaking of Sanders
Maybe now the American left (and that means you) will admit that it has its head up its ass?
You have to do better, and Obamacare was pitiful.
Clinton wanted single payer, she fought for single payer for decades, it's something she's always been completely honest about.
But then she ran on a platform of improving Obamacare instead of SOMEHOW replacing it with single payer outright, and she's a conservative shill. Better vote for Trump or third party!!
I've still got my millenial brother claiming that Clinton is a liar because she called Single Payer "untenable" once (in a wikileak so it's 1000% more meaningful, rather than being unsubstantiated).
Yeah, you know, maybe we do need a wake up call. I guess we're getting one anyway, let's make the most of it! Everybody take a GOOD LOOK at what happens when you choose unrealistic idealism over gradual positive change.
It's like Westboro Baptist. Nobody takes them seriously, they're too extreme. But maybe if they try
really hard and accept
even less compromises, they'll get... someone like Pence... in power...
Joking aside though, the Republicans didn't win this, they didn't even want the guy. The Democrats tore themselves apart in a fit of jealousy and impatience.
(inb4 "single payer isn't extreme". Yeah Europe, thanks, but it's extreme
here)
