Jann took a couple drafts of soup before replying.
: "Right. I've seen enough to know negotiations between the Reich and us locals will go sour without a mediating voice. If this ends up being some middling upstart noble's way of getting their kicks, I'd rather not see innocent blood shed over it."

Iris nodded.

"Exactly. If it's some sort of idiot playing with people's lives, they will pay for it. And if it's some sort of bigger conspiracy then we need all the help we can get. I'm glad we seem to be on the same page."

She looked over at the others, planning on asking Jann his thoughts on the group when she spotted Cecil staring at her.

"Did you need something?"

Flora caught Iris' eyes as she looked around, then made a small head gesture towards Jann, waggling her eyebrows suggestively.

Gregories levity falls a bit as he replies to Arnold "Oh. No. I don't want to leave, of course not. We practically just got here, there's still so much I need to see in Oversealands... Also of course, we still gota try to avenge the captain right?... I was just. Thinking, it's possible that they'll recall us, I do hope not though."

"Good! In that case, let's just hope that you and everyone else will get a little more peace and quiet before we head out again. Or perhaps an invigorating potion. Some additional equipment would also be good to have. If we had a sedating staff, for example, the whole disaster could've been averted. I wonder if our mission is too secret to receive any funding."

Cecil begins talking. He's quite a quick talker.

"Mmpmpmpmhp-"
He pauses, remembering there's a spoon in his mouth. He closes his eyes, taking a sip of the remaining soup, before taking the spoon out. The cavalier resumes speaking.

"An intelligence agent? Well, I'll be! We have an illustrious adventurer! An agent in disguise! With us! A true hero from the shadows! My, the tales you could tell....they'd be the stuff of legends!"
His eyes are gleaming with curiosity, as if Cecil was a child waiting to be told a bedtime story.

Alissa's been continuing to eat. "I was wondering why the Captain brought her along." she said between bites.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

"I wouldn't mind something else, either. I'm good with inflicting curses and stuff, better than I am with healing, and I need an axe." She made a lively chopping motion."Can't go wrong with a trusty axe."

Between the suggestive look her sister gave her and Cecil's reaction to her position, Iris was rapidly regretting being reassigned to this group.

"Yes, well, I don't have many stories. I've mostly been spending time working undercover here and there both in the Reich and in your land. It's how I knew about the catacombs in the first place. And, as your dancer friend pointed out, why I was assigned to the group in the first place. It wasn't the Captain's decision so much as I had the information the group needed."

Yes, another test subject! Aloud she said: "I'll be sure to bring the first sample soon, then. For the captain... isn't it kind of impossible to avenge him? The person who killed him is dead. Very dead."

"Well I mean..." Gregory hesitated, gesturing vaguely with one hand. "Who ever is behind it I mean. There's. Gota be more to the whole thing right? Whoever's caused all this, if it wasn't that mage woman, is sorta the ultimate cause of all the bad things right?" Gregory finished quizzically.

"Ah! you know what!" Gregory replied in reponse to Arnolds question about funding, before pushing his chair back from the table and pulling his pack into his lap. Gregory rummaged though it for a few moments, muttering some unintelligible things like "I think it was here" or "Certainly here?" he triumphantly pulled himself out of the pack, clutching a leather pouch that was buried deeply inside. "I still have the funds for our mission from wayyyyy back when we first got here. Perhaps we should look into getting such a thing?" he said with a grin.

"I wouldn't mind something else, either. I'm good with inflicting curses and stuff, better than I am with healing, and I need an axe." She made a lively chopping motion."Can't go wrong with a trusty axe."

"Ahh..." Gregory said, considering what Flora said. Weighing the pouch in one hand Gregory thought further about their supplies. "Although hopefully we can requisition more supplies soon. Because I don't think we have enough to get that much stuff."

Cecil seems disappointed, but nods after a moment, happy again.

"Ah. Okay! Well, it's still nice to meet you, since I didn't have a proper chance to get to know you!"

Flora smiled again at Greg.
"It's sweet to offer, and I wouldn't say no to presents, but I'd say we should see what equipment we get provided first."

"Yeah, they're very to the point. I think that's why my father is so fond of them, too. Axes and curses don't appeal to me personally, though, so I'll gladly let you take care of that business."

"Can I ask you something, by the way? That explosion was created by some kind of device, right? Isn't that the kind of thing that would've been made in a workshop in Reichland?"

Arnold looks at the pouch Gregory retrieves.
"Thanks, Gregory! I'm afraid you're right about it not being enough, though. Unless there's a huge surplus lying around, I don't think five hundred is going to buy us even one staff. Still, I could be wrong, and I've been wanting to get out and see the town for a while now, so if you'd like to go shopping then I'd definitely join in. If they'll let us out, that is."

Iris nodded.

"Good to meet you as well."

Turning back to Jann, she returned to the topic she had been going to bring up before Cecil got excited.

"In general, what are your thoughts on this group? Besides Flora, I don't know any of you, so I'm unsure of your abilities beyond the little I saw during our last fight. You've at least been around them a bit more than that. Plus I suspect you're more than willing to be blunt."

Gregory burst out laughing, overhearing what Iris asked of Jann.

"Pretty blunt yourself it seems." he says with a bit of a giggle.

Glancing over at Gregory, Iris shrugged.

"Never said I wasn't."
