Iris hesitated outside of the dining room. She'd been away from the rest of the group for the past few days while she reported in to her superiors. And then she'd gotten the orders to return back to the group. This time without any of the subterfuge. She took a deep breath, straightened her uniform, and walked in. Spotting Flora, and knowing her sister would insist on sitting next to her, she walked over in that direction.

"Good to see you again, Flora. How have your last few days been? Hopefully you haven't gotten anything else blown up?"

On anyone else, that would have easily been assumed to be a joke. However, Iris didn't even crack a smile.

"I've been having some ideas towards the concoction of something that'd get rid of tiredness, as well. You should try some. I'm almost certain there'd be no ill effects at all."
She smiled winningly at Gregory.

"That was one time. And a few others." But she smiled, even as she grumbled. "Good to see you again, Sis. I like your uniform."

"Yes, well, usually one time is enough."

She finally showed a bit of a smile with that, though it went away as the uniform was mentioned.

"Mmm, the uniform. It appears that I'll be spending time with this group for a little bit longer once the new investigator arrives. Apparently after the... less than ideal way the investigation turned out, combined with the way certain parts of the battle were handled, my superiors wanted to have a more, shall we say, official presence in the group. So here I am."

"I'm simply glad to see that everyone here was able to recover." He left the exception on the end of that sentence unstated, not wanting to dampen the mood unnecessarily. The knight had been injured quite severely, being close to the blast, but his natural regeneration and the skilled attendance of the healers meant he wasn't any the worse for wear at this point. "Everyone is feeling well, no?"

Cecil nods to affirm Siegfried's sentiment, a spoon of soup in his mouth preventing him from speaking.

"I'm not unhappy about it. Simply worried about this whole situation I suppose. Too much that we don't know and too much that fell apart too easily. Especially with that explosion. I'm glad to have the chance to prove myself with this investigation, I simply worry it might be more than any of us are expecting."

"Hello, fellow warriors of justice! How fare thee well today?"
Cecil looks up from the diary he's writing something in, waving at the newcomers.
Arnold waves back.
"I'm doing much better than I ought to!"

"It's just all of this...it seems so unreal."

Arnold nods.
"I think I know what you mean. Several times since we came here I've felt removed from what's happening, as if it was something I read in a book."

"Yeah." He replied, giving a slight nod. "I don't think... I've slept at all since I woke up after the explosion. I'm exhausted. Hopefully we'll have plenty of more time to rest before we do.... Whatever it is we're doing next. I guess without the captain we might be reasigned back to the homeland."

"I hope we won't be, actually. Right after the explosion I was numb, but now I'm more determined than ever. Things just don't bother me as much anymore. I'll be happy if you're able to carry on with me and the others, but I won't blame you if you aren't."

"I imagine you pitying her would irritate her a lot more that any defeats would."

"It's not pity, really, if pity is something you feel toward the weak. It's more ...sympathy. Wishing that she'll overcome."

She smiled winningly at Gregory.

Gregory grins back, a bit more cheerfully. "That sounds like a grand idea. Why, without the need for sleep, one would have practically fifty percent more time!"

Gregories levity falls a bit as he replies to Arnold "Oh. No. I don't want to leave, of course not. We practically just got here, there's still so much I need to see in Oversealands... Also of course, we still gota try to avenge the captain right?... I was just. Thinking, it's possible that they'll recall us, I do hope not though."

Jann quietly made his way into the dining hall, a clear splint affixed to his left hand. The Dracoshield obtained from the skeleton hung from his belt alongside his hatchet, itself now showing some wear. He seemed to look around for a couple moments.
: "...Guess she's not here."
Making sure his hand was steady, he made his way over and grabbed a bowl of soup, sitting down and carefully eating what he could.

Glancing around, Iris noted the one axe using Overseaslander... Jann? Was sitting more to the side by himself. Standing up, she nodded to Flora and those around her.

"I'll be back in a bit."

Heading over to Jann, she sat down across from him.

"You're Jann, yes? I was wondering what your thoughts on this whole situation were. I know that you're not at all connected to the Reich, so I was hoping to get your viewpoint on it. Those on the side of the Reich are of course going to automatically see a plot against their power. But I need to be able to see all sides of things. That's my job after all."

Jann cocked an eyebrow as the fencer approached him.
: "...Looking a bit more decorated than usual."
He paused a moment, gathering his thoughts. When he next responded, his tone seemed to be measured, as if carefully selecting his words.
: "Unfortunately, we are left with very few leads, and a man down. Given how far away I was from the source of the explosion, I couldn't quite gather much from whatever altercation happened there."
: "However, my reason for continuing the investigation still stands. The standoffs at Blumhart and here only point to one thing; that the people who are organizing all this have something to gain from instigating conflict between the locals and the Reich, while keeping their own identities under wraps."

"It's fine. Your big sis is here to sort things out." She grinned teasingly, then nodded back as Iris left to talk to the overseaslander.
Hmm.
Good taste.

Gregory grins back, a bit more cheerfully. "That sounds like a grand idea. Why, without the need for sleep, one would have practically fifty percent more time!"
Yes, another test subject! Aloud she said: "I'll be sure to bring the first sample soon, then. For the captain... isn't it kind of impossible to avenge him? The person who killed him is dead. Very dead."

Iris looked down at the uniform and grimaced slightly.

"My... official uniform, yes. With how the investigation has gone, my superiors decided that an official presence was needed. Agent Iris Brandt of the Intelligence branch of the Reich military at your service. I am glad to hear that you are still interested in continuing with this path. I think that if we are to deal with this problem, we need to have members of both the Reich and your land working together. I agree that it does seem to be an attempt to work the two cultures against each other."

Cecil goggles at Iris like she'd said she was some sort of mythical hero.
