The jeweller put on some fancy glasses and examine the stone.

"Such an ornamental, low-quality pebble... I guess one of my novices can work with it. 60 Reichmarks is satisfactory?"

@Siegfried:

Siegfried quickly found a Reich Manufacture near the market, but there was also an indepedent, Overseasland blacksmith operating not that far away, plus there was an advertisement for 'Leopoldo's Murderous Projectiles' apparently located on the other side of the Blumhart's trade district...

He should pick one shop and start with it.

@Suzanne:

Apparently spying is a taboo here in Overseasland because there was no public place where Suzanne could procure lockpicks from.

However, she did find a helpful man in a hood and scarf who pointed her out to proper alley and a door on its end.

"Thombern." A man covered in zits was sitting behind the table in a badly lit room. "Need ya supplies?"

The grin slowly slides off Gregory face. "I see that I have made a mistake in coming here first, instead of getting a proper appraisal done, as I know this gem is quite a bit more valuable then what you are offering. Good day sir."

Leave the shop. Find Shea.

Gregory trotted up to Shea, grin across his face.

"Hey there Shaelynn. I have a question for you, if you might offer your assistance?" Gregory says, pulling the gemstone out of his robes and offering it to her. "Do you have any idea what this is worth? To be honest, I have not an earthly clue, and it's become clear that relying on who I would want to sell it to is quite unwise."

Suzanne glanced over the merchandise. She'd have to pick up a set of picks. Keys might not be a bad idea either. Cheaper, too. She'd just have to figure out how deep into the budget the others were planning to go.

"Suzanne. Got any locks?"

[Haspen]

@Suzanne:

"Only lockpicks an' such. Am not a carpenter ya kno."

Shaelynn looked first at the 'gem' and then back at Gregory. "I hope you didn't trade for this. This isn't really a gemstone, just turquoise." Shaelynn turned it over in her hand a few times. "I've seen better. You might be able to get a few coins for it, I suppose. Maybe as much as 50, to a desperate buyer. I'm not sure who would be desperate for it though."

"In any case, we should look into high quality gear. I know a Mr. Ossenbachim who carries quality work, and he is an honest man. I should like for us to start there."

[Criptfeind]

Gregorys face reddens, and he pauses for a moment. Before sheepishly speaking.

"Well. At least I didn't say the most insulting thing I could think of when I stormed out his place on his, now apparently too high, offer to purchase the stone from me. So sure. Lead the way, I hope you're good friends with him. At least we've learned how generous  Toriani is."

"Well, I suppose if you were told it was a gemstone, less than a hundred gold may have sounded insulting. I take it this was the Interim Governor's contribution to our campaign then?"

Back to the gemshop to shame Gregory

She shrugged lightly.

"Have to stay in shape somehow."

"I'll be back."

Go find a carpenter. For less selfish reasons, scout out other possible useful stores in the general area.

Gregory nods. "Indeed it was. Do you think that Mr. Ossenbachim is the forgiving type if I was to explain the situation that lead to my foolish actions?" Gregory asked, a ting of hope of redemption in his voice.

Yes. Lets do shameful things.

The man crossed arms when he saw Gregory re-enter his workshop.

"Ahh, isn't it the young man with the extremely valuable gemstone. Couldn't find a buyer, I assume?"

@Suzanne:

Suzanne found a Reich Weapon Manufacture, an independent blacksmith calling himself Pathrunex the Swordsmith, plus there were also Cavalier's Armory, Dashim the Bowyer, Leopoldo's Murderous Projectiles, St.Perisca's Licensed Apothecary&Herbal Medicines of Blumhart City, Berlowe's Magickal Tomes and Joachim Sedan's Staves.

"I don't have any good excuse, simply that I'm an idiot and thought that someone was more trustworthy then they turned out to be. All I can do is beg for your forgiveness for my rudeness and hope that it's possible to move forward with any possible business relationships we might be able to have." Gregory replied, red faced, to the man.

Shaelynn entered behind Gregory. "Mr. Ossenbachim, please, find it in your heart to forgive my associate's impudence. He won the stone in a cardgame, and was told it was worth ten times its true value. As soon as I found out, I steered him toward your store, that he might receive a fair price."

Spotting Siegfried nearby, she moved towards him, stopping a few feet away.

"We need to talk later."

Then she left.
