"It's not exactly a noble's typical fare, but it is quite good," Siegfried chimes in.

"Yes Arnold, I would appreciate it."

[Mopsy]

Arnold fetches Shaelynn a slightly more than half-full bowl of soup and an inch-thick slice of bread, figuring that she can always ask for more.
"There you go, Miss Peritz. The breakfast of champions!"

[Blade Master Model 42]

"Thank you Arnold." Shaelynn accepted the food from the healer, and began eating. Using immaculate table manners of course.

Siegfried glances at Shaelynn, and then starts to sigh again before catching himself.

[Blade Master Model 42]

Having noticed Siegfried's behavior, Shaelynn lowered her spoon. "Is there something you wish to speak with me about Siegfried? If it's important, I can wait to eat."

[Mopsy]

Arnold chooses to give Siegfried and Shaelynn some space, going for a walk around the hall.
...can't spot Alba in here. I didn't even have time to heal her before the big bang. Still, nobody has declared her dead or missing, so she's probably just holed up somewhere with her books.

He eventually decides that now is a good time to speak to Iris.
"If you don't mind, ma'am, there's something I'd like to discuss with you. As you might have noticed, we haven't been given a lot of equipment for this mission, or funds to purchase it with. I believe that this is becoming a hindrance. For example, Flora has told me that an axe and an incapacitating staff would match her abilities much better than the healing staff she's got. I'm considering asking Shaelynn whether she knows someone on the estate who might be able to provide us with something. We could also try heading into town to find out what the money we do have will buy us. What do you think?"

Iris blinked as the healer, Arnold?, started talking to her quickly about... equipment? What was she supposed to know about that... ah, seemed like he was just asking her opinion. Interesting.

"If you've not much money, you're unlikely to get more than a weapon or two in town. The prices tend to be high here for only mediocre equipment. Getting equipment from the estate is a more likely thing if they do in fact plan to keep us all working together. It's possible they'll only use some of us, though the fact that we were all involved already makes it more likely that they will use us instead of bringing others in. I would suggest either discussing it with someone here, or waiting until the new investigator arrives. They should bring more supplies if I had to guess, or at the very least be able to order supplies given."

[Chevaleresse]

"Ah, hm. . . Well, how should I put this. . . Do you recall when we met, and you said you thought my name was familiar? Well. . . there is a good reason for this."

[Blade Master Model 42]

Shaelynn looked confused. "Are you certain? I don't believe we'd ever met before. I feel I'd have remembered you by now if we had."

[Chevaleresse]

"W-Well, uhm, no, we haven't. But you have likely heard my name before, as, er, well, your father and mine had, ah, arranged for us to be married eventually." The man seemed to somehow turn pale and flush slightly with embarrassment and shame simultaneously, looking down near the end of his speech.

Cecil gasps at the revelation.

"Was this meeting fated?!"

[Blade Master Model 42]

"You... Of course. How could I forget the name of the man who disgraced" Shaelynn slammed her fist down on the table, upsetting her soup bowl. "and humiliated me in front of all of my peers?" Shaelynn stood, and her right hand began to glow with vengeful arcane might. "Tell me, Siegfried, what in this world ever gave you the idea that vermin like you might stand before me?"

[Mopsy]

Arnold ponders Iris' words for a moment.
"Very well, I'll try making some enquiries around the estate. I suspected that getting equipment in Blumhart would be expensive. Thanks for your advice, ma'am!"

"Is there anything in particular you need, by the way?"

While he waits for Iris to answer, Arnold takes a look at the betrotheds.
So that's what Siegfried has been nervous about. Rightly so, it seems. Heh, it's good to be a humble commoner.

"I-I was simply doing my duty as a knight! Please, it wasn't meant to be a slight against you personally!"
