"Sir, I think." Gregory started before hesitating for a moment "I think it's hard to trust a man who brings us here under false pretenses and then gives us almost no information. I suppose it's possible that he brought us here like this out of desperation, that he couldn't do anything officially..." Gregory thinks for a bit longer before shaking his head "But I don't know, it feels wrong, he's telling us too much if he doesn't trust us, but not enough if he does. I don't trust him sir." Gregory says, as he looks around at the others, curious to see what their thoughts are.

"I agree with Gregory, the Advisor seems suspicious. Couldn't he have informed the Reich's leadership of his suspicions?  And besides that, I just can't bring myself to believe a official of the Reich could be so corrupt as to arouse suspicion. Surely they'd choose a man whom they could trust."

Arnold keeps his voice down as he speaks.

"I didn't get any strong impression from him, good or bad. His concern about the potential threat from Troian loyalists is understandable, as well as him asking us to come but remaining cautious toward us. A message to the Reich may be intercepted. By calling an investigator here to meet him in person, he can keep the exact nature and target of his suspicions inside his office. It's still a calculated risk. May I ask, sir, if you believe you have reason to trust him more than the Governor?"

"I have received orders to investigate the report of Chief Advisor that spoke of 'possible threat from Overseasland noblemen'. I do not know whether or not trust Chief Advisor, but as I have no more evidence to believe one way or another, I shall follow his orders. Do you have any objections?"

Siegfried shakes his head. "No, Captain. Your thoughts are sound enough, but. . . I must say I do not like this. Escaping this sort of thing is part of the reason I became a soldier. Additionally, what if the Chief Advisor is using us to eliminate his rivals?"

Gregory shoots Captain Astleich a grin "No objection here sir! It seems like even if we don't trust him we might as well go along with him until we can find out more for ourselves."

Captain Astleich rubbed his chin.

"Well, for now, we shall simply follow orders and investigate the situation, and decide later. Let's go."

And so they went, with Captain leading the way; he murmured directions and places under his nose every time they had to turn a corner or cross a bridge.

Then they have passed a sign pointing to 'Cargo Area #13' across the bridge...

"Aha, there you are, little sneaking birdy. You know some things that you shouldn't, nothing personal." A thug, in a hood and with axe in his hand, approached the cargo area.

Captain Astleich withdrew his sword quietly, but the hooded woman accompanying the axeman alerted him.

"Blast! Take care of the girl, we will handle the witnesses." The axeman whistled loudly, and then several more unsavory personas could be noticed nearby.

"We ought to defeat those thugs and rescue Chief Advisor's informant!"

~~Player Turn 1~~

Objectives:
Captain's team: Defeat all enemies.
Shaelynn Peritz: Perform distressed damsel maneuver!

"I'm glad we rehearsed this fight on the ship."
Arnold moves to (13,14).

So this is it, then. This is not a drill. People are going to die. I hope I can handle it.

"You will stay well away from me, or you will suffer the consequences." Shaelynn's voice was loud and clear, and did not betray her fear. "My father is a powerful man, and to threaten me is to court death." Shaelynn reached behind her back, and unclasped the pouch there that contained her only defense apart from her threats. Namely, her tome of light magic.

Arnold thought for a moment about what Gregory said.

"They might have learned about our contact from some other source. The fact that they were surprised by our arrival strengthens that hypothesis."
