The old man led them through a small hall to a long gallery, filled with many portraits, quite possibly of the Bonefaz family. About three fourths of them wore Troian fashion of black, purple and orange - the rest wore the grandiose blue and golds of the Reich.

"Please enjoy these fine paintings. I will go ask my Lord whether he wishes to see you in his study or in the dining chamber." Equally slowly as before, the old butler moved out of the gallery, leaving the group along with the large oil painting on the walls everywhere.

Shaelynn busied herself during the wait by studying the paintings. When such a time for sneaking around and questioning the servants came, she was unlikely to be suited for the task. Suzanne and Iris would probably be better choices for that.

Suddenly, the framed paintings popped off the walls - one striking Shaelynn on the forehead! - and fell onto the floor, revealing long thin crevices underneath them.
