"Well, no. I wasn't going to do that. You might have noticed that this isn't exactly a full company, at this point it's not even a full squad. We don't have any cooks in our group, at least, dedicated to that role. And to be honest given our small numbers and the short time period we're going to be out in the field getting bulk supplies and setting up something fancy doesn't make sense compared to just eating our more portable food. But, if you feel like you need a hot meal prepared by someone, maybe you should ask Jann?" Gregory said, motioning to the man at his fire. "It seems like he's decided to cook something up, and he's basically your body guard now isn't he?"

Shaelynn disagreed, but wasn't prepared to challenge Gregory's authority. He was, after all, the leader of the group. "Hm. I see. I suppose I shall eat what I'm already carrying. Though Jann is not my bodyguard, but rather a member of this investigative team."

~~Chapter 7: An Unexpected Influence~~

Realizing that a large group was easy to spot and attack, Beatrix, Friderick and Altha split from the group and marched southwards to Blumhart in hopes of foiling their enemies.

The tactic have seemingly worked, because three days later, the main group reached Wyrmpeak.

Ah, Wyrmpeak! Ages ago, a proud centre of wyvern breeding and the place where future Troian Wyvern Generals were raised and taught their skills. Nowadays, after the fall of the Empire and the Wyvern extinction event, the city lost most of its renown except for various smithing venues that profited to nearby iron and steel works.

The estate of Bonefaz, as told Suzanne by a helpful passerby, was in the west of the city. But the group, or rather Suzanne Gregory and Shaelynn really, had to decide - shopping trip or duty call first?

"We should move fast in our investigation, Archibald Bonefaz must be aware we're here, but if we're lucky maybe he hasn't had time to secure himself against our investigations yet."

Gregory is of the opinion that they should continue to their duty as fast as possible.

"I agree, we haven't any time to waste."

Shaelynn also is of the opinion to skip shopping and go straight to Bonefaz

"Do we even have the money to buy anything?"

Skipperoo.

"We have some money remaining from..." Shaelynn almost, but not quite, managed to say 'my wedding funds'. "...Anyway, we can always resupply, such as we are able, before our departure."

"We should forge onwards!"

She had expected the city to be swarming with their enemies already, given the ring on the light mage's corpse. But perhaps they did still hold the advantage for now.

Go directly to Bonefaz, do not pass go, do not collect 200 Reichmarks

"I don't need anything from town, but we might need to check everyone has got a weapon in good condition."

Jann hefts the Steel Axe drawn across his back by a leather strap.
: "No problems on my part."

The group therefore went straight to the estate.

An old building in the Troian style, it was walled and the otuside gate was guarded by trio of spearmen who watched the investigators approach.

"Yeees, how can we help you people?" The middle one asked once the group got to the earshot of them.

[Criptfeind]

Gregory stepped forward. Offering the spearman who had addressed them a grin that failed to reach his eyes.

"Greetings, I am Gregory Zecklin, Captain of this team of Reich investigators, we have urgent business with Archibald Bonefaz." Gregory said as he continued walking forward. "I must meet with him immediately."

[Haspen]

"Uh, sure." The guard then entered the manor.

Minutes passed, before he came back with elderly man in tow.

"I am Thom, the house servant of the Bonefaz. Please leave any horses outside, and come with me, Sir Archibald agreed to see you." The guards opened the gate a bit wider as the old man already went back inside.

[Criptfeind]

Gregory nodded to the man, then stalked forward, motioning for the others to follow him. Falling back a bit towards them, he said in a low voice. "We should stick together for now, in case there's some nasty surprise waiting for us inside. If Bonefaz is going to play ball with us for now though I'd like if some of you could investigate the grounds once we've secured the area, interrogate the servants, find out whatever we can." Gregory said to the group as they moved forward.
