"Most likely checking on the others."

She knew no more, so she said no more. The shape of a figure was slowly beginning to emerge from the wood, and she examined what would be its head with a careful eye.

Jann's eyes refocused on hearing Shaelynn approach, inclining his head to acknowledge her.
: "He's been wandering around. Can't say exactly where he is, but I'd wager on her guess."
Taking the lid off his pot briefly, a billow of steam flew as he dragged the spoon in his hand around. Re-covering the pot, the hunter sighed as he turned his head to glance in the direction Shae came from before looking back at the fire.
: "You listen to the wilderness much? Just sit down and try to pin down all the critters out and about? Takes your mind off things, quick."

"Not really." Shaelynn admitted, taking her eyes off the pot once it had been covered once more. "I spent most of the time outside of my lessons in the library. Usually I'd have to have an escort to travel outside the grounds, and that was always a bit of a bother, so I'd visit the garden if anything. The manicured trees and topiaries aren't really the same though." Shaelynn's interest in the contents of the pot overwrote her previous plans. "What are you cooking, if I may ask?"

: "Got it. I'd recommend it while you're out here, though. Easy enough to find a quiet area that's still close to camp."
Jann looked upward, shrugging on being inquired about his cooking.
: "Potato stew. If my hand was in better condition, had a bow and some extra roots, it'd be a proper meal, but I have to work with what I've got."

Shaelynn frowned. "It still hasn't healed then. Perhaps you should have one of the healers address it. The resistance we're encountering is only growing steeper. I understand your reluctance to use resources if it isn't strictly necessary, but..." Shaelynn almost said 'you would be more valuable in peak condition', but she realized that wouldn't be tactful phrasing. It was how she felt, after a fashion, but she didn't want the woodsman getting the wrong impression.

Flexing said hand, Jann lifted it to rub his chin.
: "I appreciate the concern, but it's done fine in the last fight. I'm not so worried about it breaking again so much as I don't think the muscles are settled enough to handle a bow yet. Having to draw over four stones of weight with it while trying to aim is tougher than using it to guide an axe. I give it two days."

"Well, I suppose if you're sure. I apologize for pressing the issue again." Shaelynn glanced around, but Gregory had still failed to present himself directly in front of them. "I suppose I should go look for the captain." With that, Shaelynn left to do just that.

: "Take care of yourself, too." Jann called after Shaelynn as she left, he himself returned to watching his work. After lifting the pot's lid and stirring its contents one more time, he nodded to himself. Wrapping some cloth around his hands, he lifted the pot from the fire, settled it on the ground and poured a couple spoonfuls of the stew into a ceramic bowl.

Cecil is still frozen in place because Gregory and Alissa are both inquiring into the rather poorly-hidden scroll behind his back.

Shaelynn eventually happened upon the group of three, and called out as she approached. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything. I was hoping to speak with you, Captain, if you're not too busy with... Whatever it is you're preoccupied with."

Gregory grinned at Shealynn, spreading his hands wide.

"Of course, I'm not too busy at all. What is it that you want to talk about?" he said, standing up to meet her.

Cecil shoots Shaelynn a grateful look and starts backing away slowly from Alissa.

Alissa gave Cecil a blank look, almost as if asking "Seriously?".

"...Do I look blind, Cecil? What are you doing?"

"I am.....just working on a play! One of my projects, you know that! It's not finished yet, so I would prefer to keep it to myself until I am entirely satisfied with it!"

"I was wondering if you'd be placing one of the soldiers on cooking duty soon. It's just that its going to be getting dark soon." Shaelynn looked over Gregory's shoulder at Cecil with a questioning glance.
