Once again, she moved forward to scout ahead.

And so the group moved northwards toward the Harem Hills...

...unfortunately for them, the enemy was already waiting for them in Harem Hills next day.

"Ey boss, there's some guys coming."

"Splendid! Must be the Reich girl and her little company. Pity that Oislef won't get any fun, ha ha!"

"Uhhh, wassit smart to split forces, I mean-" *THWOK*

"Shut up! 'Mister D' told us to keep both routes covered just in case, and besides there can't be more than ten of them. This gonna be easy job! Now forward!"

A moment later...

"Ah, yeh, them's orders in. Our friends be coming, so let's move and get them killed! You too, merc."

"Ha! Wonderful. My sword was getting rusty!"

And the first mooks moved over to the front, showing up before Shaelynn's troop.

"Y'all ain't getting anywhere further!"

"Very well." Shaelynn pulled her tome out of the carrying case she wore.

"Let us clear a path."

"... If you feel that way, your Captain must have been a good man. But we should avenge him by succeeding in his mission, not through random slaughter."

Friderick reflected on the words once again. Perhaps she was right.

"Y'all ain't getting anywhere further!"

"I suggest you flee, before we do away with you, like we did with the last group!"
He reached for his spear, holding it in front of him, and towards the enemy.

"Damnit... I suppose it couldn't be helped. Be careful everyone, it looks like there's a lot of them."

"Oh. An ambush. How surprising." Flora mechanically recited, her tone a sarcastic monotone. As the others began entreating the barbarians to lay down their weapons, she sighed.

"Has telling the people ambushing their prey to surrender ever worked? Like, in the history of ever? Because I don't think so."

She pulled out her axe.
"I guess it's chopping time."

"It only seems fair to give them a chance to rethink it. After all, their foolish actions are about to get them killed."

"I would agree with Lady Peritz, actually. Really, I would prefer not having to kill anyone in this place."

"Although I'd certainly feel bad if these people turned out to be simple overseasland commoners and were possible to dissuade from their emotionally influenced path with a simple word, I fear that most of them have probably taken the choice that leads to death already in joining this horribly violent rebellion attempt. I doubt that many of these men could escape the noose at this point, even if they were to surrender now..."

"...Well, that may be true, but I don't think saying that out loud helps our chances of getting them to surrender..."
