How to add a race to the mod?
« on: July 01, 2016, 10:28:50 am »

Hi um, I was just wondering how I could export a race/civ, tiles and all, into Masterwork. I've got no intention to distribute it or take the credit, its just for my own personal use. That said, if this sort of thing is somehow frowned upon even then, I'll stop looking into it.

First of all: The mod is open-source and all parts can be altered and redistributed as you see fit.

If you want to add you own race, it works the same way as in vanilla DF: Add the entity file and add [SITE_CONTROLLABLE] to it.

you need to put your raw files into the games raw folder. Same as modding vanilla, just dont delete/overwrite without checking so nothing breaks

Well I'm not wanting to use my own race you see. I want to port over a race from another open-source mod and put it in Masterwork, and said mod has its own tilesets. So in order to get it working properly, I need to know how to make the tilesets work as well. Tiles are phoebus btw.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with modding, but the tileset has nothing to do with the entity files. You only need creature and entity for that.

If you tell me what exactly you want to do, I can probably tell you how to do it in a few minutes.

Sorry for the confusion, I'm not too good at wording my questions sometimes.

I want to take the Dusk Elf race from the Genesis mod ( http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=52988.0 ) and place the race/civilization, graphics included, in the masterwork mod. I intend to use the phoebus version for this.
