The Forumancer's FollyOP's noteIt's been a while since I've been around here. IRL commitments and an overall busy schedule made it difficult to keep up with the forums, and I knew I didn't want to return until I had the time to commit to a forum game completely. However, I've finally managed to make time for this game, and I plan to see it through to the end. A character sheet template will be posted once I get a few people expressing interest. If you are interested in joining, just let me know below. Thanks!
OverviewIn an attempt to speed up the process of releasing Dwarf Fortress 1.0, Tarn Adams has turned to the dark arts. Making a pact with Armok himself, Tarn offered up seven human sacrifices from the Bay 12 Forums. But Adams soon finds himself betrayed by the Blood God, and the souls of him and the seven forumites he planned to sacrifice to Armok have sealed inside an experimental build of Dwarf Fortress. The latter awake in a wagon loaded with supplies, and find themselves shorter and more bearded than they remember. Thrust into a world they find all too familiar, their goal to escape is overshadowed by a more simple one-- survive. Strike the earth, forumites!
PrologueIn a dark apartment not far from Seattle, a desperate man prepares a sacrifice to an ancient god, the only illumination provided by a dimly lit computer screen. As the man paints a pentagram onto his bedroom wall the blood of a carp, a booming, ancient voice echoes throughout the room. "I am Armok, God of Blood," the voice thunders, "Why have you summoned me?" The man answers, his voice trembling slightly, "I seek to forge Dwarf Fortress 1.0 from the blood of mortal men!" The ancient voice laughs. "Do you have the sacrifices prepared?" "Yes, dark one! These are the seven!" The man's hand shakes as he holds up a piece of paper with seven names inscribed upon it. Suddenly, the writing on the paper glows bright red and begins to drip blood.
"THE CONTRACT IS INSUFFICIENT." Immediately, the man knows something is wrong. "Damn you, Armok! We made a deal!"
"THE DEAL HAS BEEN ALTERED. YOUR SOUL IS MINE." The computer screen flashes crimson briefly, then darkens. The apartment is silent once more.
How the game will be playedForumancer's Folly will be based around D100 rolls correlating to relevant skills, with a "99" being the highest roll, and a "00" being the lowest. For example, a player character may go to chop some wood with a woodcutting skill of 59. This means that to successfully complete the action, the player must roll a 41 or higher. Should they fail, the action is, of course, unsuccessful. If a player rolls a 00, whoever, the results are disastrous. Rather than just getting the axe stuck in the tree, the player might cut their own hand off.

You have 1,000 points to allocate to whatever skills you wish. Do note that speech-related skills, such as Pacifier and Flatterer will only apply to actions involving non-player characters. Your character will not need to make a roll in order to convey an idea to, or communicate with another player character.
You will only need to write in the skills your dwarf has that are higher than 5.
All skills not written in will be assumed to be 5 during gameplay.
