TURN ZERO

In the Beginning, there was nothing but formless and empty Void. Over the eons, the Void began to coalesce, forming an enormous ball of Eternal Fire, orbited by several vast Spheres of Earth, many smaller Spheres orbited the larger Spheres. This new form of reality remained stagnant for many centuries, but eventually, a spark of light came from the Void. The light, imbued with the power of Creation, became sentient, and awakened with great power to Shape reality. The light reached out with it's power, and shaped the chaotic surface of the largest Sphere. Through the light's Shaping, the first continent was made, and on it, new life flourished. Pleased with it's Creation, the light left the new world to it's fate, to travel the cosmos, eternally seeding life among the Void. For millennia, the world remained unchanged, but now, new Shapers of Creation are emerging, how they will change the world is yet to be seen.

THE DIVINES HAVE AWOKEN!

There are Six Divines, each of them imbued with World-Shattering Power. Shennias, Mystical Gardener. Envaruk, Absolute Fear Incarnate. Nix, He Who Strengthens. Avignon, Master of The Mortal Clay. The Dreamer of Truth, Seeker of Reality. And Last, but not Least, Moznarx Hogroof, Lord of Ordered Chaos. The World is theirs to Shape and Mold as they see fit. What shall come of it, shall be seen in time.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The Dreamer of Truth drifted among the spheres, listening to the symphony of their ordered movement. It was true, and it was false.

In the eternal fire it saw shadows, shadows that hinted at fundamental truth. Petals waving lazily, it wove a new world into the current false reality from these shadows. To reach the truth you must first build up the towers of falsehood and deceit, and then break them down.

Use one Mighty Act to create the Dreamworld, a shared illusion where all mortals dream. The dreamworld is false, but at the same time true. Dreamers may become as gods as long as they sleep, or be trapped and powerless within their nightmares. Wounds in the dream may do nothing or leave gaping wounds once the dreamer awakens, sweet whispers of star-crossed lovers forgotten like the mist before the sun, or lead to a tearful reunion in moderately more 'real' world of the waking. Civilizations rise and fall at the breath of a dreaming sleeper. The dreamworld is a juxtaposition of real and false.

Avignon lighted a pipe and settled into the void-stuff for a long wait.

Envaruk glanced at the other Divines who emerged. Without a care for Avignon's words, Envaruk gazes upon the Dreamer's waning creation.
Interesting. Dreams mean Nightmares after all...

Distancing itself a little from the others, the tentacled god peers upon the world. How small and pitiful.

Then using a Mighty Act, it creates the Whispering Sun.
A pitch-black star encircled with an unnatural white halo, moving in the cosmos according to its creator will.
> Its primary purpose is to gather the despair and fear of mortals, storing it in itself.
> Its secondary purpose is to whisper to mortals echoes of madness and terror, revelations of a truth so horrible they will eventually crumble into despair.
> Its third purpose will be to empower the eventual beings or magic system Envaruk will create.
The closer the Whispering Sun is to the world, the stronger are its powers.
And of course, the Sun is created in such a way that other Divines shouldn't be able to mingle with it easily.

For now, it will only orbit in such a way that the whispers will be faint enough to only be heard by the most perceptive. Once per year and for a night, the Whispering Sun will block the star of this world, generating an eclipse and increasing the whispers by getting closer to the world.

Nix sat.  Nix observed.  Thus observing, his face cracked into a frown.

"Such fancy baubles.  Pah.  Such waste."

Nix narrowed his eyes, and gazed upon the so far untouched world, to see what walked upon it.

"I think I will do likewise."

Shennias similarly gazes upon the untouched world.

TURN ONE

At the moment of their birth, the Divines each ponder the new World, and all of the possibilities contained within it. None acted for a long while, choosing instead, to observe the workings of their domain. The Dreamer wandered among the Great Spheres, and contemplated their symmetrical movement. The Dreamer was stricken with an Idea, and the Truth of it's purpose resonated with it. Taking a single petal from It's Flower, It cut away a portion of Space-Time. There, The Dreamer sculpted The Dreamworld with One Mighty Act. And so, the first work of the Divines was brought into being.

The Dreamer of Truth has created The Dreamworld with One Mighty Act!

Moznarks, and Avignon both look upon the new World, and are unimpressed, choosing to bide their time. Envaruk, Lord of Terror, is stricken with inspiration upon seeing The Dreamer's creation. With Dreams come Nightmares, and with Nightmares come Horror, therefore it has purpose in Envaruk's Eyes. But what has Envaruk done? Nothing, and that must change, it thinks. Reaching out into the Void itself, the Aberration bends, shapes, and breaks reality into what it deems to be a more fitting form. A star of Pure Black, ringed with Solid White, is formed. The Whispering Sun, named for it's Vile, Incomprehensible, and Horrific Speech, has been set into Orbit around the World.

Envaruk has created The Whispering Sun with One Mighty Act!

Nix expresses his disdain for both The Dreamer's, and Envaruk's waste of power on what he believes are arbitrary trinkets.  He gazes upon the World, and, feeling somewhat curious, Shennias does likewise. They witness the cycle of Life, of Birth, and eventually, Death. The Enormous Sphere changes very little in the time that they gaze, and, somewhat regretfully, no changes to the World's Life are observed. The pair sees that, while the World is filled with many different kinds of Plant, Animal, and Marine Lifeforms, and though their self-balancing cycles of consumption, and reproduction are quite interesting, both feel that it lacks something, something, more.

All of the Divines are pleasantly surprised at a sudden influx of Power. Most likely, given by the Forces of Creation, it shall prove useful in their work.

Each Divine has gained One Major Act!

"Hm.  Weak things lie here.  Unknowing and Uncaring."

Nix decided to focus on the land dwelling creatures, and desired to find one capable of living in numerous climes, across vast distances.

"Rise my child, and go fulfill your purpose."

Envaruk uses his Major Act to create a single beast.

The Herald of the Abyss, a titanic deep sea dwelling creature looking like an octopus with hundred tentacles and a massive dragon head at the end of its body.
Its body is black like the night, and its many eyes crimson. The tips of its tentacles are sharp claws.

It will roam the Ocean, spreading terror by killing mortals venturing or living on/in the sea. It will always leave a few survivors, to whom the Herald will whisper words of terror and despair before letting them go, ensuring they reach the land safely.

edit: It can also breath a magical blue flame with its dragon mouth and head beak. Let's say it burns the flesh and sear the mind. Because why not ? :3

Avignon stretched. "Time to get some work done, since you people feel fine lollygaggin' with dreams and feelins."

Ripping from himself his arm (which promptly regrew) and some surrounding void non-essence, Avignon created a mighty forge of unimaginable realities. Here constantly changing shapes, extreme temperatures and unstable entropies were all concentrated in a single point. Here, Avignon worked and dwelt, hammering the strings of reality anew. When all was said and done, no mortal would ever be able to tell that reality's physics had been modified and none ever would. However, if any deity had looked into the atoms and particles of creation, someone would have noticed something missing. That something was Avignon's gift  to the world.

Taking the mundane building blocks of Creation, the craftsman deity created materials that would not obey reality. Defiant and rebellious, no mortal scientist would ever be able to come up with any logical explanation for why these modified materials, "aes", could do as they did. And so, Avignon smiled and released his creations unto the world.

However, it would be no use if there weren't any mortals to appreciate. With a good laugh, she returned to her forge and begin a new work. Seeing the efforts of her fellow deities, she shrugged and thought she would go without. Taking some carbon and a smattering of other elements, Avignon forged a few thousand new bodies, with souls of course. To a human, these creatures seemed to be some kind of hairy mantid with an extra pair of arms which while smaller than the pair, was far more dexterous. For one, they possessed thumb-analogues that would allow them to grasp, which Avignon thought especially important. To go along with their insectoid appearance, he also ensured they had no capability to dream and indeed, needed very little sleep or desire to mate. After all, these weren't pesky mammals he was making. Satisifed with his creation, he released them unto the world.

1 Mighty Act: Create Aes, non-mundane minerals that do not obey the laws of reality. The higher the concentration and quality of aes, the greater the effect. All aes is renewable and with sufficient time, regrows. Aes is scattered around Creation. While there are many types of aes, there are twelve major aes types (detailed in spoiler).

Spoiler: Aes Types (click to show/hide)
1 Major Act: Create the mantids, hairy mantis-like creatures with two pairs of arms, one made for tool-use and the other for combat. Mantids require very little sleep, have a low sex drive and do not dream. Inversely, their natural lifespan is limited to 30 years. A mantid is considered mature at 7 and will stop growing at 15. Mantids lay eggs in batches of 5-30 and require a month to hatch. Mantids may learn memories by devouring the brains of other mantids, although older brains tend to lack some memories. Eating another mantid's brain may affect its personality, resulting in a composite mind made up of the consumer and the consumed. Mantids mate four times a year and have no desire to retain connection to their mate. Mantid family groups tend to be matrilineral with whole extended families living under one roof/tent/cave with very little contact with their fathers. Put them down in random groups all around the continent.

Spoiler: More mantid stuff (click to show/hide)

"Well then. I suppose it's time to get to work..."

1 Mighty Act: Shennias pulls forth an ordinary acorn from the world, infuses it with a truly ridiculous amount of power, and plants it, causing it to instantly grow into a similarly truly ridiculously sized tree: the World Tree, a tree the size of several cities.
The World Tree is sentient, and possesses the ability to evolve itself rapidly, and it certainly possess the intelligence necessary to use this ability well. Its goal: the same goal as Shennias: make the world a lush, wild, garden.

((Lotus stare of disapproval))

Using 1 Major Act, the Dreamer of Truth creates a mortal race of cuttlefish people in the oceans. However, the higher consciousness of their brains is in a permanent sleep, dreaming within the Dreamworld, meaning that the cuttlefish in the 'real' world are just bright animals. It is up to them whether they will be able to escape the illusion of dreams.
