You're The Leader of a Post-Apocalyptic Warband!(SG)
« on: June 25, 2016, 06:46:06 pm »

Before we get started, here are some major points of the Setting:

- In ancient times, Humanity had ascended to a near godlike, futuristic level of Technology. For unknown reasons, a War was fought, and catastrophic weapons were used that irrevocably ruined the Earth. After the Great Shattering, a pittance of Humans survived, both in places that were isolated and largely spared from the destruction, and in massive, Fortified Bunkers filled with the remnants of the Governing Elite.

- Ancient Humans genetically engineered many new organisms, and even new Subspecies of Humanoids. These New Lifeforms were designed to accomplish certain tasks, and some were perfectly suited to the Post-Fall World. After the End, some of these 'Anomalies' have spread and flourished. Non-Human sentients are discriminated against in most places, are often enslaved, and are quite rare. Many of the Ancients also engineered themselves to have beneficial traits, and many of the Augmented Humans have passed on their beneficial genes to their children. These 'Augs' have many useful abilities, ranging from perfect night-vision, to immunity to disease, to enhanced strength, and many others besides these.

- The Environment was corrupted by the Great Shattering, and much of the world is inhospitable, and often Radioactive desert, swamp, or ruins. Deformed Mutants roam these places, and will often consume non-mutants. Mega-Storms and other insidious Weather plague Survivors. The world was flooded in some places, and in other places, succumbed to drought. The continents were reformed and shattered by the Great War.

- As the Centuries passed, the knowledge of Old-Tech was forgotten, and the Culture of the Old Ones was lost or heavily distorted as time went on. Medieval weapons, tools, and armor have all made a comeback, and are commonplace. Primitive, Black-powder firearms and ammunition are manufactured in large amounts, but haven't yet outpaced Medieval armaments. The remaining Old-Tech isn't understood by the people, is thought of as Magical, and is very highly valued for it's abilities. In a few places, patchwork, knock-off Old-Tech is produced in small amounts.

- Civilization is almost entirely made up of inter-warring City-States, and Petty Nations, every kind of Government imaginable is adhered to, at least somewhere. Nomadic, Primitive Tribes are also fairly common, but are slowly being phased out by more advanced societies. Most of these Governments have no authority beyond the length of their blades, and beyond City Walls, the World is a cesspool of Violence and Anarchy. Many mercenary factions, wandering, bloodthirsty marauder hordes, and conquering armies all proliferate in the new World.

You are the Leader of one such group. Now, before we begin here a few questions. What is Your Name, and what Title do Your Men refer to You by? What do You look like? What kind of Warband do You lead? And lastly, What are Your eventual goals?

Ah, that's right. You are Jakos Neths, The Great Old One, Seeker Of Knowledge And Conquest. Now that that's all out of the way, can you answer just a few more questions?

Fill out this sheet to determine Your Army's Attributes. You have 30 points to spend on the Attributes, 5 points in an Attribute is average, but to have more points in one Attribute, another must suffer the loss. Don't worry, Your Army can and will gain Attribute points, this is just Your starting point.

Attributes:

Discipline: Discipline governs how well Your Army maintains formation, and order in it's ranks. It is absolutely critical for large scale engagements. Discipline marks the difference between a Peasant Mob and a Hardened Company of Warriors.
Loyalty: Loyalty governs how much a Soldier is willing to die for You and Your cause. A Loyal enough Army will never break and run, and will follow their Commander to the ends of the Earth, whereas, the Commander of an Unloyal Army must always watch his back.
Quantity: Quantity governs the size of Your Army. An Army with a large Quantity will shake the Earth as they march, and strike fear in the hearts of their Enemies. Whereas, an Army with a low Quantity is made up of no more than a handful of Men.
Quality: Quality governs the Fighting Ability of Your Army. An Army with a high Quality can battle any foe to a standstill, and will run under only the most dire circumstances, but an Army with low Quality is no more than a band of armed Civilians.
Equipment: Equipment governs the amount and quality of Supplies an Army has. A large Equipment Attribute will ensure that Logistics won't be a problem for many days, and that Your Army will be well-armed. A low Equipment will see them wielding sticks.
Reputation: Reputation governs how much the People respect and fear Your name. A high Reputation will ensure that You have no trouble recruiting new Men, and give You a substantial morale bonus, but a Reputation can be gained or lost easily.

Now, tell me, Jakos Neths, what kind of Soldiers are in Your Army? The more advanced they are, the fewer and more expensive they will be. For example, One Capable 'Wizard' is worth as many as a Hundred Swordsmen on the battlefield. And a Knight is worth Ten Swordsmen, but a Swordsmen is far more valuable than a Peasant Militiamen.

Lastly, Can You name Three Skills that You've learned over the Years? Answer carefully, as it is difficult to learn more, and this will influence Your Personal starting Equipment.

That's right! Your Soldiers are very few indeed, but they bring weapons of incredible power to the battlefield, and are well-versed in the Lore of the Ancients. Apart from that, Your Troops are quite average, to be honest.

Your current Army consists of Six Relic-Hunters, and One Augmented Brute named Thatcher. The Relic-Hunters require no payment, but if you stray too far from the pursuit of Knowledge, they may forsake you. You saved Thatcher from a lynch mob, and he is extremely devoted to you. Shortly after, he joined Your Band, declared himself your Guardian, and hasn't left your side since. What he lacks in mental capacity, he more than makes up for in martial skill.

Relic-Hunters: These soldiers are poor fighters, and are physically weak for the most part. They do, however, possess a very firm grasp of Ancient Technology, and are skilled at locating new Relics. In combat, they rely on the careful usage of Magical Relics, and are normally ranged Fighters. With enough time and training, they can become Relic-Masters.

Augmented Brutes: These are the few, unfortunates whose Strength Augmentations where, altered, by Radiation. Their hideous bodies stand nearly eight feet tall, and ripple with Muscle. Brutes have almost ten times the might of a normal man, are prone to violent rages, and will destroy all in their path with no heed to sense or mercy. They are very unintelligent, and resent others that look down on them. When Trained in combat, however, Augmented Brutes are masterful Warriors.

Your Army's current Equipment:

Tricked-Out Ancient Speeder: This slim, menacing machine is large enough to hold a dozen men, and can travel in excess of ninety miles an hour. It consumes nearly any organic bio-matter as Fuel, and it's rugged, crudely armored frame is more than able to withstand the rigors of the Wastes. If broken, it might prove difficult to repair.

Nineteen Ancient Blast-Rods: These sleek, elegant weapons somewhat resemble modern rifles, but rather than ball and shot, they fire a Beam of pure fire at their target. They can melt through solid steel in mere seconds, and have an effective range of fifty feet. They are fragile, however, and require constant maintenance. They don't require ammunition, but occasionally, they need Electronic Scrap to keep in fighting condition. Currently, Six Relic-Hunters are wielding Six of these.

One Ancient Two-Handed Sun-Blade: Named for it's likeness of the Sun when wielded, this massive Great-sword will burn anything it touches as well. It's silver material is unnaturally light, and will burst into flame at the wielder's will. Currently, Thatcher is wielding this.

Three Doom-Spheres: These sinister machines look like a chrome ball, but when properly twisted, they will temporarily open a vortex, and rip apart everything within twenty feet in a violent windstorm. The vortex lasts for half a minute, and if the Sphere is damaged, may open prematurely. As far as anyone knows, they are impossible to make, and as a result, are highly valuable.

Thirteen Shielding Orbs: If thrown onto the ground, these Chrome Orbs will temporarily create an impenetrable Force-Field across fifteen feet of space. It is impossible to penetrate the Field with weapons, but it allows easy movement between sides, regardless of intent.

Two Suits of Crimson Plate: These full body suits are heavy and encumbering, but can withstand much more than standard steel. They are unimaginably smooth, and contour to fit the Wearer's body. The Suit will form an agonizingly painful and durable Energy Shield when struck or grabbed. Currently, Thatcher is wearing One of these.

Five Iron Shortswords: Forged in recent times, these small but deadly Blades are a staple of Warfare. Currently, Six Relic-Hunters are Equipped with these.

Fifteen Pounds of Electronic Scrap: This mysterious and rare material is essential to the creation and maintenance of Ancient Technology. It is quite valuable at the right market.

Twenty-Four Cheap Rations: This combination of Aged Jerky and Stale Hardtack will keep you going, but not happily. Fortunately, it's dirt cheap.

Note: Those who aren't Equipped with a melee weapon have Knives, and Heavy Sticks.

As for yourself, you are experienced in the arts of Machine Repair, and have a knack for creating new forms of Technology. The Lore of Ancient Technology is familiar to you, and though much of it is unknowable, you are far better educated than most. You are carrying the Following:

One Repair Kit: This critical device contains many Machine-Tools vital to the working of Old-Tech, and without it, you would be unable to maintain or create new Old-Tech.

One Dimsteel Knife: Dimsteel isn't Steel at all, but rather, is an Ancient Alloy whose recipe was forgotten long ago. Dimsteel is nearly five times as durable as Steel, can hold an edge for decades, and will never rust. It was named for it's unnaturally Dark color. This Knife is useful for many things, from cutting a foe, to skinning a carcass.

One Black Cloak: It's only made of Dyed Leather, but it's full of Pockets, and it's imposing appearance caters to your ego.

Now that you have a knowledge of your arms, choose a destination.

The Eastern Plains: This fertile land is filled with People, and likewise, hungry Anomalies, Banditry and aspiring Warlords. There is little Old-Tech to be found here, but much trade goes on in Riverside Settlements, and some could certainly be located there, for a price, of course. Mercenaries are in high demand here, and their wages show it. The largest modern Cities are here, as are many 'Wizards' Guilds, and Religious Centers.

The Southern Coasts: This Oceanside Region is Heavily Irradiated, and is positively infested with Mutated Creatures. The land is barren, covered in a perpetual Night, it's blood red Seas are borderline acidic, and filled with horrendous Monsters. Mega-Storms constantly buffet the Coasts, Clean Water and Edible Food are hard to come by, and the few Inhabitants are insane, and often cannibalistic. Almost no permanent settlements are here. The only benefit the Southern Coasts is that they have an abundance of unpillaged Ruins, and, as a result, an abundance of Old-Tech. Occasionally, heavily armed Scavenging Parties go through.

The Western Deserts: The Western Deserts are sparsely populated by Nomad Tribes, and the occasional Oasis Village. A good deal of Anomalies are here, and desperate Bandits prey on the weak. The Deserts have large mineral and fossil fuel deposits, which are often feuded over by local Governing Entities. Some Ancient Infrastructure has been preserved by the dry climate, and, a few are still ripe for the picking, although the Natives here don't look kindly on 'Sorcerers'.

Keep in mind, if you choose one, the others can be traveled to eventually.

Spoiler:  Current Supplies (click to show/hide)

Also, the very last set of questions, I promise. What is Jakos Neths Age? Is Jakos a Man or a Woman? Last of all, What is the Warband of Jakos called?

How could I have forgotten that Jakos Neths is 26 and Male! Your Warband, is collectively called the Relic Wizards, not the most original name, but it can be changed if you think of a better one someday. But now then, Where is your destination?
