I am unsurprisingly hesitant (because I am a joyless person with a shredded soul just barely clasping to life)

Though that is more because I played Jade Empire, Master of the Bushido, and Way of the Samurai. So I've seen how these types of games turn out... and they don't have a great track record.

But then again... I like Jade Empire and wish it was a better game, I like Master of the Bushido and wish it was a better game, and I like Way of the samurai and wish it was a better game.

So if the game doesn't turn out to be bland, count me as one of the first people to buy it.

I wanted to like way of the samurai but there was too much goofy stupid shit.

It sounds pretty cool but I just can't get into a fighting game where you can't pull the other guy's head and spine off.

Admittedly I mostly want this to be "More Jade Empire" despite knowing damn well it looks nothing like "more Jade Empire"
Still looks cool though.

Hey, Way of the Samurai 1 and 2 didn't have that much goofy shit.  There was like... the inexplicable super afro black guy in 1, and the one flamboyantly gay magistrate in 2.

WotS 3 and especially 4 kinda screwed the pooch though, so.

So, it's out.

Pretty fun the thirty minutes (maybe) I've been able to play online, but the  servers have been down for almost the entire time the game's been available so far.

Been having a whole lot of fun with this game. I love hard games and boy is Absolver hard. Haven't done too much pvp, but what I've done so far was fun, the community is pretty nice and I haven't really run into any sort of cheese that couldn't be countered by good old fashion observation and a versatile deck.

There are a couple cheesy moves but nothing too serious, and nothing unbeatable.

Client-side data does mean hackers happen, but you can just leave.

I like the dynamic of the open world, completely freeform.  Unrestricted friendly fire and no party system means co-op and PVP are inextricably enmeshed.  I hate people who inject dark souls into every fucking conversation, but the open world player dynamic is basically dark souls with all the restrictions taken out.  People invade your game at any time, and they can work with you, against you, near you, you never know.

Team up with a rando to kill a boss, then when it's over you turn on each other.  The winner revives the loser and you go your separate ways.

Hitboxes are unbelievably tight and well-made, and when it's not unplayably laggy the netcode is pitch-perfect, leading to some fucking amazing-looking fights

Check out 28 seconds in where the guy's punch animation moves him out of the enemy's hammer kick.  That's not iframes.

I saw a gif on Reddit where a guy dodges someone's hit with a spinkick, and then the person dodges his hit with their own spinkick and hits him during the recovery. Was tight.

The best is when the other guy sweeps just as I do my illusion kick.  He cancels high, I cancel low, we just dance around like dorks.

Wait, EVEN MORE stupid goofy shit  :o ? How? First one looked for me more as hardcore parody on otakus than anything even remotely serious. Gay magistrate in 2 was somehow ok for me, and looked better then this disgusting mentions of gays in Dishonored(especially "just and fair" captain of guard Kurnow) but... those bandits... >_<
Eh, never was able to play any, becasue my computer can't even launch 4 and 1 and 2 plays with horrendous lags. Combine with unskipable cutscenes... (They are REALLY unskippable, do they?)
On topic, i tested it on Youtube, and fighting system looks even more stupid, disgustingly looking and repetitive then For honor one. Prove me that i'm wrong.

Rest of the sigs
The helicopter is rent apart by the collision, its steel unable to resist its inevitable reunion with the ground, and the meat within is smashed by the crumpling cockpit beyond any practical hope of recovery. What comes up, must come down again. Ore and ape, returned to mother planet's embrace.
