I had no idea cheese was so common at breakfast elsewhere. Mine is two slices of buttered toast and two scrambled or fried eggs if I have the time/materials, or oatmeal with some sliced up fruit in it otherwise. All served with milk or fruit juice depending on availability.

It's kinda weird, thinking about it, how people tend to eat almost exactly the same things for breakfast every day but balk at the idea of doing the same at lunch or dinner.

Well, I was going to post a nicely thought-out POV on economics and the way macro and micro intersect at the minimum wage, but...

Yeah, that it is truly shocking, but still less shocking than that you have to be a slave for the government for a couple of days every week to pay your taxes - like a slave you have no choice in the matter and you can't stop working for it unless you want to be imprisoned. At what point is taxation not slavery?

Not to mention that you can be drafted and send to fight like a slave.

...this thread is clearly not the place for thoughtful, informed opinions.  Good work derailing guys, sometimes it's desperately needed.

Anyway, the One True Breakfast is bread, butter and cheese.

Wouldn't they just lobby for a new minimum wage?

All I can say is if they're making the minimum wage 15 bucks an hour fuck tech writing, I'm getting my job back at Kroger.

We did the mandatory unions thing in New Zealand, it was a clusterfuck. After a while government decided to just make labour laws more pro-employee.

Well... then how about welfare for people who earn less then a certain threshold?

-Also yes, I am going to keep coming up with bad ideas until people fill in what we should have INSTEAD of minimum wage as a sort of stop gap against worker exploitation for low income individuals. Especially in America where some businesses are infamous for cheating employees out of their full pay even at minimum...
--As well especially since a lot of analysts find that the current minimum wage to be especially low and barely accounts for the cost of living.
