Language Barriers

Seeing as how there are different languages throughout the game, I think it would be interesting to add a trainable skill for each language. The language of a induduals civilization (not race, as that will cause multi-species civs to fall apart) should be known from the start, and other languages could be learned by interacting with people who speak them. Untill you fully know a language, it should be rather hard to make out what they are saying. For instance, let's say a elf tells you to slay a cyclops:
What the elf says:
"A Vile Beast has terrorized our home! Drybones the Age of Ancient Anger the Cyclops is in the Hill of Hermits." (note this is just an example)
What one untrained in the elf language might hear (or read, rather):
"Munsog fer Angzak bom! Drybones the Anahm of Zustash Ustos, Cyclops Legons the Inen of Oshosh.
What someone who partially understands might hear:
A Munsog Beast has Angzak our home! Drybones the Age of Zustash Anger the cyclops is in the Hill of Hermits."
As you learn more, more words become translated, until finally you are fully compatible with the language.

This could be applied in fortress mode by making sure your trader can effectively communicate to the people he trades with for better prices, and also would give an extra function to human, Elvin and goblin performers/scholars/warriors: you could give them a job as a language teacher, and you could assign one of your scholars to teach the dwarven language, law and culture to outsiders.

So what do you guys think? Good idea? I think it would add a very interesting challenge to the game. Perhaps with time language and cultural takeovers could be implemented on top of this. Teach those rotten elves why your language and culture is superior, and then set them to work gathering you trees.

This would be a great mod for role-play but i think it may make the game pretty hard early on if you travel to a new land where a different race lives and you can't understand anything they say. Still with a bit of balance could be a great addition!  :D

Another great suggestion.

The inclusion of this in the game to give more realism to the interaction , and languages would be more relevant

It would make many parts of the game harder, but it's too cool to not to implement into the game. I just think that, maybe, when adventurer hear different language, it should be colored differently to differentiate names from unknown words, for example.
