Registered a while ago. Thought I'd make my first post semi useful. I tested the 64 bit Linux test on kubuntu 14.04 last night.

Everything started no problems and no errors. I tried generating a large world with a medium history, high civs, sites, savagery and minerals everywhere. Terrain generation seemed really slow compared to the last release I tried (43.02). After it rejected 6 worlds after about half an hour without even getting to civ placement, I aborted and changed to a medium size world with less minerals and world gen went alright.

Adventure mode seems a little smoother I get less lag in populated areas. I played around with that before a bronze collosus kicked my ear hard enough to twist my neck and collapse it.

I tried a 16x16 embark after that. It took about 15 minutes to load the map and df was using about 4.3 gb of ram. Fps was too low to be playable but it seemed to drop and speed up again in spurts. I think maybe because of pathfinding. It seemed to drop when my dwarves finished an activity or when my miner would choose the next tile to mine.

I also noticed that after saving the world and returning to the menu dwarf fortress was still using 4.8gb of memory. It never stopped climbing.

Okay, I think we are back up to where we were before, and here's the requested not-working-for-me file:

http://bay12games.com/dwarves/redist/brokenpngosx64.tar.bz2

As expected, it works for me (but you included i386 libstdc++.6.dylib instead of x64, which should be taken from <gcc location>/lib/gcc/x86_64-apple-darwin14.1.0/4.5.4/libstdc++.6.dylib).

I see this build uses my latest SDL_image framework. And it's still showing png not found for you?

I get something like that on Snow Leopard (after replacing the included libstdc++.6.dylib with the one lethosor sent me). First this alert box comes up:

Tileset not found

Not found: data/art/curses_640_300.png

Tileset not found

That's very strange. I have no idea why.
Ok, I have a 10.5 retail disk and a spare iMac. If it still works, which I'm not sure, I'll try to build SDL_* libs that would work on it.

Yeah, running the df script from a terminal, I get the helpful message "libpng error: bad parameters to zlib" before the Tileset window pops up.

I couldn't find that folder for libstdc++...  I think my gcc is the one in "/usr/local/bin", and it definitely took the library "/usr/local/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib".  I did find "/usr/local/lib/x86_64/libstdc++.6.dylib", if that works.

Oh, zlib! That helps.

Yes need to take libstdc++ from x86_64.

(Or jecowa) Try this https://www.dropbox.com/s/g20shl0svc39qhm/SDL_image.framework.zip?dl=0 I've linked it with the latest zlib statically.

Now there isn't a libpng or Tileset message, but it still tells me the application has quit unexpectedly.

Anything useful in the crash log? (You may need to press Report Crash or something to show the log, I don't what exactly on old systems).

Ah, maybe it compiled libpng with some features not available on old CPUs... Will try to recompile now.
EDIT: yes, that's it
