The Fallen Sky: Training Round 1, Eliminated Squad 2
« on: June 19, 2016, 10:54:26 pm »

When the Sacrificed first landed, the citizens of New Terra were thrown into disunity. The citizens of the world had never seen true war, and were unprepared for the global blockade which trapped the residents of each city and cut them off from resources. It was a global siege, and every city had to fend for itself using whatever military hardware had been stockpiled beforehand.

You now belong to the Watt-Physferus Academy of Mechanized Warfare in Irrowskurn. As a citizen showing outstanding qualities in some or all regards, it will be your duty to learn about mankind's new enemy and stand against darkness! You got the draft letter in the mail several hours after the email, and a truck showed up the next day to pick you up.

It is now nighttime in the megacity of Irrowskurn. Skyscrapers loom behind you, forming a gridwork of structures reaching kilometers into the sky. There are thousands of windows lit, whose light outshines the moon and keeps the ground illuminated enough to see clearly wherever you step. Most of the population is active at night during the summer; to work indoors under hot weather requires air conditioning the whole workspace, judged to be more impractical than climate-controlling only bedrooms and working at night under the city lights.

The convoy arrived at your door as planned. Two officers in black, one man, one woman, rang the bell and escorted you to the armored car. It is an eight-wheeled vehicle, armed with a short-barreled cannon of some sort and a remote burst laser. Inside you met other recruits, some of which are volunteers; the vast majority were drafted into the Infantry corps, and had driven on to the training grounds several kilometers beyond the academy.

The APC comes to a slow halt outside the academy gate. You see spotlights within the fence shooting columns of light into the skies. VTOLs screech overhead during a night flight excercise, running laps around over this school and the others along Irrowskurn's borders, whose spotlights also light up the clouds in the distance.

As you line up with the other Tankers, a man in olive drab emerges from a different vehicle and addresses everyone.
"Listen up," he calls. "You are about to participate in the largest military action in our planet's history. Over the course of four weeks, you will LEARN your enemy, you will learn to FIGHT your enemy, and you will learn to WIN THIS WAR. This is not your future career. This is not just a profession. This is a fight for survival.

You will be commanded by Captain Feldman, one of the top instructors in the school. You will report to him each morning outside the barracks. How you manage the barracks with the other soldiers is up for yourselves to decide. The Captain is not there to hold your hand. His job is to make you into Tankers. And in order to be Tankers, you will have to figure out how to solve problems on your own.
Now, to your quarters!"
he barks.

>Panthropes are genetically modified in order to coexist with the native wildlife. They can eat local lifeforms and are taller in the increased gravity. They can catch modern diseases from wildlife and each other.
>Baseline humans can only eat human food and tend to be shorter. Some wear masks to avoid breathing in pollen, which is a mild irritant, but diseases are nonexistent and they cannot catch Panthrope diseases.

DICE
The game uses a d6 scale for actions without bonuses, but attempting a difficult action results in a Difficulty roll of d4 or more. The value of the Difficulty roll determines what the middle point is for the desired action such that you Partially Succeed. Combat has no difficulty rolls, using a Defense stat instead that defaults at 3, but can be increased from bonuses.

Note that Critical Fails and Overshoots only happen at the lowest and highest values for the dice you roll, regardless of difficulty.

TRAITS

This game uses a pyramid system, where character traits and backgrounds make you roll better dice based on their level in the pyramid. Each Tier 2 trait must be related to the two Tier 1 traits before it, each Tier 3 must be related to its preceding Tier 2's, and so on. Tier 1 traits don't give any bonus, they merely add flavor (although they can have non-bonus effects, as you'll see below). They can also give penalties, such as -1's, if you so desire.

All pyramids are shown in courier, a monospace font. You can start with three traits that have bonuses, along with their respective T1 traits. Example pyramid:

T1: d6..........|T2: d8..........|T3: d10.........|T4: d12.........|T5: d20.........|

Additional Effects:

You can have three T2+ traits. So you can have 4 T1 and 3 T2, or you can have 3 T1, 2 T2, and 1 T3 like the example.

Never ever cease communication with your enemies, never ever cease interaction with them, never isolate yourself from them. Never ignore them, relish the time to deal with them, to exercise banter. The biggest mistake one can make is ignoring one's enemies. Go out of your way to pick a fight today.

You don't need to explain every fluff trait. Only if it actually has an effect, such as a penalty to certain actions.

You forgot your T3 skill. ;)

Pyramid format's a bit screwed up. I'll fix it when I reproduce the sheet. The traits are good.

Future, but not for long if the siege keeps up.
