City of Irrowskurn, 2400 Orbital Time, Day 140, 79 A.E.

Well, retreat to the ASU. Hidden, mind you.

((Sorry, forgot your recon bonus. It's not relevant anymore, but oh well))
[d6: 4] You make it down the tree and back to your post on time. Trucy moves to the side and starts playing with a shell.

"Shirou come with me. Grab a shovel." Raioyris hops off of the tank Gwydion, feel free to fire when you judge it to be necessary."

Dig away mud from front and rear of treads. Find some wood/material to put in front/behind the treads to give extra traction.

Drive closer?
"We should still wait for the Comet to be dealt with before finishing off the Greyhound. I'll leave the Comet in the Hellcats hands."

Have the tank drive a couple hundred meters closer. look out the hatch with binoculars to see if there is any crew even in the vehicle.

The ASU drives somewhat closer. {d8: -} Jacob trains his sights on it but can't conclude there's no one at the MG. [d6: -] With your binoculars it's much easier to see. It's probably empty.

Jacob gets all the time in the world to aim, so his next shot will be more accurate (+1 to roll). Additionally it's an ambush (it will use his d8).

"We'll go stationary for now, hopefully by the time we need to move we'll be done down here."

You dig out slots for the treads and prepare some stalks and exposed roots which you and your crew sawed off and set aside. There's still a lot of upturned mud everywhere which might make it obvious your tank was camouflaged, but it would require someone actively looking for a camouflaged tank.
[Camouflage level is d6: 4. This is the difficulty for the enemy]

The tank's engine roars. Its driver seems somewhat inexperienced, slamming the gas at times and coasting at others, always unable to get a grasp of what speed he is going at.
(d6:-) Gwydion sees the Comet drive up past a large proto-tree, a mound with a thick trunk of many separate root fibers, most of which have not yet coagulated under structural stress.

The tank rolls closer over open field. It is about eight kilometers away, Gwydion tells. Its turret is facing dangerously close to your way, though, and it's not unlikely you'll be spotted after the first shot.

You are SQUAD 3. Scale: 0.5 km per tile.

"It may be risky, but we could hide behind the M8, have somebody go in and clear it, and kill that comet when it gets to about four kilometers."

"Take the shot if it presents itself. I think the tank will be ready to move."

Ambush the Comet.

"Take the shot if it presents itself. I think the tank will be ready to move."

Ambush the Comet.

The Comet strolls past. It comes to within 500 km, after which you notice the turret spinning. Your cabin fills with the sound of squealing brakes as their tank squeals to a halt. You're sighted! [3] Gwydion fires first, albeit barely, into the side armor of the Comet. Echoes roll throughout the fields.

The vehicle immediately shuts down, and flares come out the top lighting the sky with white.

The M8 takes the hit and flips over. [6] Flares are ejected over the grass, making a column of smoke appear in the distance next to the vehicle.

"Damnit! We should light the comet up and get outta here." Prepare to fire upon the comet at the commander's word.

"Nah. If we got them, it'd be straight flames. They're signaling the others."

"Yeah. I don't think we're trying to kill them. Now we have to plan our next engagement. We can either go on the offense or find a good position."

Call Hermia.

"Direct hit, kill confirmed!" I announce to the cabin. At least... I think so. It just shut down. I guess that means they're out of action?

Either way, we need to get moving. Whatever didn't like that noise is gonna come our way fast. Let's dig the Hellcat the hell out of this dirt and ROLL OUT.

"I'd say some one should get out to secure the tank. While, they're out, we move the tank to a better position to deal with new threats."

"Good hit. We should have someone confirm the Comet's down and get moving. The Greyhounds pretty safely down, andandI don't want anyone to risk themselves in the swamp."

"Squad 1 definitely saw that, so should we set up another ambush here, or reposition?

(5) You manage to struggle free of the guards and sprint to a safe distance before tossing a knife at one! (5 + 1 = 6) The throwing knife zips through the air, slitting a guard's throat! It then travels around the group of guards like a boomerang. It (5) Slits another throat, (Three 6's in a row!) decapitates three more (!), (4) slices open the last guard's arm, and (2) narrowly misses a random bystander. It then flies back into your hand. Holy crap.

Question:  Do they want us to just hit the tanks with shells and be done? Or do they expect us to go out and secure the tanks ourselves with, y'know, guns?

If not, I say we bugger off. Those flares are gonna draw everyone like flies to a plate of crap, and our ASU is far too exposed in the open plains.

You... weren't told. They did say that there'd be a shower of flares at the end of the match, and at that point your tanks would reactivate.

"Yeah. I don't think we're trying to kill them. Now we have to plan our next engagement. We can either go on the offense or find a good position."

Hermia refuses to come down. Perhaps its that animal that you saw before. It's coming closer, it looks somewhat like an elephant with huge, prehensile ears. It's flaring those ears right now and you hear it making a faint bellowing sound as it walks closer, straight toward the hellcat.
