I don't think there is such a thing as the best or worst game. What game you think is the best is probably biased by (among other things) what you've been playing recently. I obviously think Dwarf Fortress is a swell game, but sometimes I play the old Thief games and suddenly they're my favourite games.

I play Dwarf Fortress since 2006 at least a few weeks a year. I play a lot of games, but none as long as Dwarf Fortress.

For me the best game ever is Dwarf Fortress. My reason for this is because I'm a bit.. odd when it comes to games. I can't sit down and play a game for more than probably two hours, at most. And if I do I'm liable to never touch the game again. And when I best a game I'll delete it, and never reinstall it. There are exceptions, but they're far and few in between. One of those being the very first thief.

Basically dwarf fortress changes so much, and there's so any things you can do, that I can, and I have, sat down for 12+ hours not moving and concentrating on nothing but the game. And I still love it. And there's so much more I still haven't even tried, and if I get bored of the vanilla game? No biggie, I'll just masterwork or one of the other numerous overhaul mods!

Only other game I've been so invested in is the half life series, but I beat half life 1 and 2 in one sitting so.. haven't touched them since.

The best game is Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, and it is Slaves to Armok: God of Blood Chapter II: Dwarf Fortress because your mission involves 7 egomaniacal settlers on a one-way trip to colonize savage wilds, with not enough supplies packed into a broken-down jalopy.

DF is great, but I don't play it much like a game. To me, it's more of a simulator.
The best game is Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, and that's a fact.
