Someone from another board mentioned adventure mode's soldiers still not wearing armor and such, can this be confirmed?

The first hearthpeople I saw had full sets. The changelog says they'll wear it "according to their roles" so maybe not every random cannon fodder gets their own armour. I think this was already kind of a thing, with people from poorer nations having to make do with leather or cloth

Clothes are also affected, so no more giant dresses of invulnerability.
So stacking multiple cloaks on soldiers no longer helps? :(

Oh, they'll still work as protection. You'll just need to replace them more often.

like when you see skinny humans and such, are they skinny because their village is in poverty?

You know...while realistic of course, I have to say, armor and weapons wearing out sounds like a lot of micro managing headaches to me :(. Especially with special metals. I mean, it's why it was never worth making clothes out of the special metals.

Oh well. Progress and all that.

What's micro-manage about keeping a spare suit of armour in a stockpile somewhere? Dorfs will replace their worn stuff automatically.

I've yet to find hearthpeople, criminals, bandits, random soldiers, tavern-partying-soldiers, or anyone else with gauntlets/greaves/armor boots. I've yet to find a weapon lord hearthperson, but just as a quick test I removed socks/mittens and such so the only option for stacked armor could be gloves/gauntlets and leather/metal boots, they still just wore the leather stuff without the metal armor.

Well, I think armor and weapon maintenace should be introduced to the game.
Soldiers should spend some time to fix their gear after training and after combat.
Heavily damaged armor should be possible to repair at smiths workplaces same with weapons.
Artifact Weapons and Armour should probably not deteriorate.

We are missing a thing...

Shields can be damaged? If it can be damaged, fire will damage the armor/weapon/shield?

So will DRAGONFIRE melt our troops apart? Will the dragons be more, !!fun!! ?

Only proper way to deal with a dragon is a cage trap and an animal trainer. If you're going to be a heathen and kill it instead, marksdwarves with steel bolts.

And I just thought about the shield thing this morning. It means wooden shields are no longer kings. They're cheap and easy, and suck hard now.

Are you still finding hearthpeople with no new armour?
I haven't checked out the goblin pits yet, but roaming the towns and hamlets, I'm having trouble finding any hearthpeople with less than a full suit of bronze/iron. Could be your mods for some unknown reason? Lack of ore in your world?

Interestingly enough, I've noticed archers are less armored than their melee counterparts so far. They can potentially have metal head gear and metal body armor, but no metal hand or foot armor. That's very narratively sound. I thought perhaps we'd end up with across the board armor for all soldier NPCs. Cheers to the Toad and the Toe!

Someone noticed that Leather Armor isn't so useless anymore? I had trouble getting past it using a copper longsword.

Ah, yes. I noticed that too. That's very cool.

well i think there is still the distinct difference that arms and armor do not decay overtime just every time they get  blunted or absorb a hit.

Do shields act like armor in a sense that blocks will make XXwillow shieldXX sooner?

This update has me rather annoyed, actually. It fucks with the intended main feature of Adventurecraft and other Wanderer's Friend derivatives by making armor crafted from megabeasts wear out rapidly against even mundane wildlife attacks.

I've been mucking about with this and so far, you can't make improved body materials stand up to even light combat without buffing them FAR beyond a sane balance. -_-

Yeah, my military has already worn a couple of masterwork wooden shields to destruction in combat, I've equipped them with metal shields now. Hopefully they'll last a bit longer, it's not very fun to see a spam of "The XX☼oak wood shield☼XX breaks!""The XX☼oak wood shield☼XX breaks!""The XX☼oak wood shield☼XX breaks!""The XX☼oak wood shield☼XX breaks!" when your squad is fighting an army of newly-armored goblins.
