As I mentioned in Discord, I'm travelling this weekend. Having to type on my phone really slows my post rate and I get motion sickness if I look at my phone for too long, so don't expect too much activity.

Rosa trudged through the snow, breath fanning out before her as a pale mist. Drowned out by the unceasing howl of the winter winds, the muffled crunching of the snow beneath her boots had ceased to be any measure of her rhythm, leaving her to stumble through the icy wastes with nothing but her equipment and her rapidly-diminishing hopes of finding shelter. The heating coils in her clothing had failed long ago, the insulated fabric doing little to alleviate the bite of the frigid air brushing against her skin. And, worst of all, the constant pain of the thousands of hailstones mixed amongst the snowflakes, each impact against even the tiny amount of bare skin she had showing feeling like a punch in the face. The constant assault of the hail, even on her armoured chest, was tiring, a shower of tiny bullets.
She ground to a halt, panting. It had been scant hours since she had been forced to evacuate her vehicle, yet already she felt like she had been doing this for many long, lonely years, with all the pain and exhaustion that it brought. She felt blood, from the myriad tiny gashes left by the hailstones, trickling slowly down her face; in the bone-chilling cold, the warmth felt almost too hot to bear, but at least it was something. The little of it that reached her mouth didn’t taste of anything, save the faintest hint of metal. She turned and spat it out into the snow, leaving a deep crimson mark against the pure white. She stared at that bizarre splash of warm colour for a while, some sort of red oasis in the vast monochrome snowfields of the wasteland. Looking backwards, her face had a brief moment of respite from the icy fingers of the wind, and while that didn’t make her any warmer, the cessation of pain felt like she’d already reached a city. But the longer she looked back, she realised, the less she would want to move ahead, so she bared her skin to the frozen daggers of the oncoming blizzard and began to shuffle forwards once again.
