Authors in Sieges

Last night, my fortress was under siege by an overwhelming army of goblins and elves (in the goblin civilization).  At some point I noticed in the combat reports that an elf was using a book as a weapon.  At first I thought she had just picked up one that belonged to my fortress, but upon closer inspection I saw that she was carrying two books, both authored by herself.

Legends mode didn't show much of interest - just that she had written several more books.

Has anyone else seen anything like this?  It would be nice if sieges could be a regular source of books.  Unfortunately, our strength was broken before we could collect these two.

I had a goblin author arrive in a siege as well. Unfortunately she was torn in half. Fortunately, her book survived. It described some certain Goblin pits. I think it was called Trenches.

My scribes copied it, so her work shall live on! :D

Yes, I've seen invaders carrying, and even wielding, books. Not exactly my choice of weapon, not even if you consider the pen to be mightier than the sword...

Half the books in my library are about the stars, phases of the moon and the wind. Which i got from destroying 2 elf attacks.
