Creatures castes and true transform
« on: June 09, 2016, 11:13:48 am »

Hi all
I have an idea to mod an interesting race. It would be about a creature with many castes wich may transform from one-other.
The questions are:
>How do you use the true transform from Dfhack? (maybe an example mod if someone has in mind)
>what are the effects of having differently sized castes in fortress mode? (clothing might be an issue, or does it?)
>what would be the most usable way of transforming creatures in fortress mode in your experience?
Thanks for all the answers.

Can't help with the rest, but castes of radically different sizes are problematic in terms of clothing.  Though clothing made by such creatures will fit any caste, no matter how different they are in size, the clothes themselves appear to be sized based on either the largest possible member of the species or some average value, meaning armor can end up being too heavy for weaker castes.

Will the game take the first or last size defined in the raws (if it goes on the same way for the same raws, i assume)? Also will those clothes fitt other races as well (if they are same size as one of your castes and if they are in your civilisation via the abdoucting or the new mechanics of taverns/applying for citizenship)?

IIRC, the clothing size used is from the first defined caste.
