Does Volcanic armor make my troops fireproof?
« on: June 05, 2016, 11:47:05 pm »

Volcanic metal is fixed-temp, like nether-cap. Does this mean the dwarf wearing it won't ignite? Or will they still burn up like normal, but the armor will stay intact?

They'll still die because armor does not fully cover the body. Their toes and face will melt and then they'll bleed out.

The armor will stay intact however unless it's dragon fire.

What if the dwarf in question is missing his toes, face, and all the body parts that the armor does not cover? Not sure if it matters anyway, since no face means no eyes, and blind units don't fight very well anyway.

they still die. If you wrap a potato in aluminum foil and throw it in a grill, it gets burned, despite the foil staying intact. :P

But aluminum foil doesn't magically maintain a fixed temperature.

They'll still die because armor does not fully cover the body. Their toes and face will melt and then they'll bleed out.

This calls for some modding science.
Remove fingers/toes/etc from the DWARF creature entry, create armor types with highest coverage area, then try it out and report back.

Can you make Volcanic metal clothing? Robes and veil might make you fire immune then, since IIRC those cover the entire body, unless i'm mis-remembering.

When fire hit something that can burn, it will ignite and take damage, and its temperature will rise of course. For armor to protect from fire, you need to remove fingers, toes and facial features from dwarves then cover them with plate.

Temperature isweird. Clothing will affect the wearer's temperature but when it comes to environment, it will affect the wearer and then the wearer affect the clothing. So volcanic will not protect from magma or very hot stuff, at least without noticeable effect.
