Take them off and put them in your backpack first. Korgoth is LITERALLY DYING.

I spent some time experimenting with fortress retierement.

It turns out Korgoth will die. Indeed. Infection will kill him in four months of fortress play :'(
I could cut his fingers to prevent finger infection. True, true.

But he also has an infection on his lips... That puts an end to all the cutting.



I feel like Armok blessing is the way to go.
I figured out a way to heal without the use of DF hack (which is not out for 43.03)

[CE_BODY_TRANSFORMATION:START:0:END:10]
[CE:CREATURE:DWARF:FEMALE]

I put these tags below the drinking alcohol [SYNDROME].
After drinking one booze, Korgoth is turned female for seconds, and turned back normal again :P
That cures everything. Infections, broken nails and (sadly) scars. All is gone and Korgoth is fresh again.
After the healing is done, I can simply remove the tags, and proceed playing.

So, I think this is going to be the way to go, unless there is a way to remove infection from the lips.
Hardest part is going to find a way to roleplay that.

With mist and soap washing included, I take it?

And yeah, I expected you to have a cunning plan when you set disease resistance to 0 on combat character, given how in fort mode it seems to me like it's not good to have strong, tough, agile dwarf in military if they will die after first dangerous fight :P

Potion of the Succubi, Virtuoso of the Flute is a concoction of gnome blight, gremlin sweat, and sweet pod.  It is reported to cure blisters even from long night sessions of blowing wind.

I set disease resistance to 0 out of reflex really.
Every adventurer I make has that low disease resistance. Because it is such a useless skill on adv.
But luckily for fortress mode, I won't have to make any more military since it is all done :)

Though yeah if you don't fight anything and merely explore, I suppose....Adv mode is not something I have experimented much with :p

Log 6 - Time to retire.

Music, Songs, Dance, Joy...

These words had echoed in his mind for too long.
For days, he trained music in his crappy own-built cottage, in the camp of "MusicMaster".
For weeks, he slept in the dirt, only to dedicate to the mastery of instruments.
For months he drank the water of the brook, only to clear his voice of fatigue from the countless songs and stories he told.

Now, the time has come to move on...



Back in the month of Felsite (Late Spring), when he built his cottage he was ready to dedicate, both his body and soul, to the mastery of music.
He had lived a life of fighting and pain at first, killing angels, and goblins and bronze colossi on a daily basis. He had mastered everything from wielding the axe to walking with crutches; he even learned to use the bow.
Now, he was all alone in hermitage. A pile of many many stacks of meat and a brook nearby were his only friends. A few beers on a corner of the shack would keep him from becoming mad...
He found two instruments in his voyages, and had to figure out how to play them perfectly.

He was far from realising the journey to master music would take him three full months...

!!Queue the ambiance music!!

The date is Galena 12th, this is a hot late Summer day.
A dwarf emerges from his hiding hut. He hasn't walked in months, he stretches, drinks a beer, and walks away. He will never look back.

This dwarf is Korgoth ! Master of Music ! A Legendary Dancer, Singer, Story-teller, Keyboard-player and Percussion-player !
(and also a legendary warrior of doom, brought to life by Armok himself)

During his exile, he wrote books to perpetuate his exploits.

Running out of quires to write on, there is no way for him to train Writter.
Not having instruments to train Wind/String-player, it is not possible to train them either. Korgoth had wandered every tavern in the world, not a single dwarven string/wind instrument could be found.
How about Poetry ? It's boring ! Korgoth will do it later !

So that's all the bard skills wrapped on, right ?

You guessed it, it's time to move on to Fortress mode !!!
Korgoth headed North, towards LegendBirth ! This will be the next step of his epic journey.


The quest had only began...

Yeah... That took a while. But I feel like I'm done with the bard skills for quite some time now, which is suuuuuch a relief ! :D

So, with these six musical skills, 37 Skills are now mastered !
Remaining adv. skills are : Poetry, Prose, Writer, String-player, Wind-player.
Potential adv. skills that will be done in fort mode are : Wood-cutter, Butcher, Shield User.

Number of kills for Korgoth at the end of the adv. mode part : 622.
Also, as for all the... infection problems, I cured them using the CE_BODY_TRANSFORMATION. Korgoth is completely fine.

Also, I'm now taking dorf requests !
We have 7 founding dorfs. They are not really special, but I'm taking name requests ;)
- 2 miners (one male, one female) of 3/15 skill.
- 5 peasants (3 males, 2 females)
- Korgoth cannot be dorfed :P

Also, I'll be off for the week-end ! Resting time !

Male/Female peasant, whichever is closest to like martial prowess, dream of skill, and prefereces to war hammers/battle axes.

I notice only Korgoth's recuperation, Disease resistance, patience and memory didn't increase.

In particular, going from Below Average to High Social awareness is striking. I take most social skills will be done by coin trade in fort mode?

I also notice Linguistic Ability rose more than your Musicality did, despite your extensive instrument playing.

I'll take a female peasant, preferably a bookkeeper/manager/trader (though anything organizational-related will suit my OCD-ness), once Korgoth has finished mastering the related skills.

I've never seen so many purple skills.

Do we even need a military, or can we just close the drawbridge, tell Korgoth to suit up, and let him go nuts?

just make his bedroom and barracks in the fort entrance and exit, no need to walk out, just let them come.

Hm, making sure Korgoth's room has mister, bar of soap and well in that case would be reasonable investment then.

But yeah he should be able to handle most anything when armored, until he gets too tired at least.
