Name: Yua Nakashima
Magical Girl/Boy Name, if you have one: Ace of Clubs
Gender: Female
Sex: Female
Age: 16
Appearance: Yua stands at exactly five feet tall, with relatively light skin, and a rather thin frame. Her hair is charcoal black and falls down to her shoulders, straight and neatly groomed. Her eyes are brown and are quite sharp when one bothers to pay attention, as she takes in her surroundings and thinks. She wears semi-casual clothing, typically, rather than the simple t-shirt and jeans worn by some, wearing slacks or creased skirts instead, typically of dark colors. Her face is usually rather impassive -- a constant poker face.
Magical Appearance: Yua's physical attributes are here unchanged, although the differing attire makes her hair stand out far more. What she wears is quite classy, and a fair bit brighter than her usual attire: she wears a feminine suit of pearl color, with overlapping and numerous lines of gold and black running through the suit, as well as a black collar, golden wrists and a large onyx in the shape of a star over her chest opposite her heart. Her cuffs also have onyx cufflinks, a deep black, in the shape of poker's clubs. The onyx cufflinks and chest decoration shine far more brilliantly than one would expect in the light.
Description: Personality-wise, Yua is an extremely stoic girl. She is extremely skilled with a poker face, and uses it to constant effect -- it is nigh impossible to know what she is thinking or feeling at any time, and on the very rare moments when she is openly emotional, it's a strangled event she still tries to hide. As a consequence of this, Yua is something of a loner, poorly connecting with people and often distrusted by the other students, who her stony stoicism tends to freak out.
Background: Yua has been around gambling and cards her entire life, her father having moved to be something of a professional poker player when Yua was six after he and her mother divorced. They traveled the world has her father played cards and chance for a living, from Macau to Hong Kong to Monte Carlo to Vegas and the occasional time spent back in Japan. Yua learned to ply the cards much as her single father, and she would learn to mask her thoughts -- a skill she took to frighteningly well. It wasn't uncommon in those places less concerned with age to see an eleven-year-old girl at the table, impassive as she almost held her own. But soon after she she turned fifteen, her father hit a losing streak and their financial position decreased quite a bit; they were forced to move back to Japan, to Yumachi, a city with the laxest gambling laws in Japan, allowing casino-like establishments... but only under a certain size. It is here the poker-faced girl has set herself up, more at home in the small, family-run gambling houses than in her school life.
“What kind of person are you?”
"I'm a girl raised around poker tables and casinos all of my life, and it's given me talents. I can play poker with the best, I have developed a sharp mind, I know how to spot a tell or a clue both in a game and out, and I don't give any of my thoughts or feelings away if I don't want to. Sure... I'm not the most talented at giving my feelings away when I do want to... but that would just be a liability in the furst place, right...? Oh, well. I'm also someone with ambition. I want to get places in life, and I will use what I've been taught to do so."
“What reason will you have to make a pact?”
"Well, as empowering as magic may certainly be, that's not what I'm in it for. I see this as the ultimate gamble -- it may be a very serious risk, but sometimes those must be taken for a greater reward, and I am willing to take that gamble for what a wish could get me."
“What will your wish be when you get it?”
"I want a fortune. I want enough money to be sitting in a mansion out there and still have enough to last me for the rest of my life. I don't want to be caught in a losing streak or to be forced to go where misfortune would take me -- I want to have enough money to ride life's highs and lows, and to get to whatever place I want to be. I want to be extremely rich."
Magical Power: Telekinesis.
Magical Element: Paper.
Magical Weapon: Yua has a deck of cards that she uses in battle, often floating them separately and playing lightning-fast hands of poker to hopefully boost her attacks. The cards themselves are extremely difficult to mar or break, and are highly susceptible to both her telekinesis and a particular chance-based piece of magic she uses, and get sharper when force is applied, making them both a weapon and a workable set of playing cards.

Boost (Raise)
Free Action, 3/Scene, 1 Overcharge
When making a magical challenge, you can take 1 Overcharge on the magical attribute you’re using for the challenge to roll an additional die and add it to your result. This die will give you another die and another point of Overcharge if it rolls a 6 as usual, and if you use it for an attack it gives +2 to the attack’s damage as usual.
Recover (Fold)
2/Episode
While out of combat, a magical girl or boy can use this to regain 1d6+2 Resolve.
Hex (Blinds)
Minor Action
Place a Hex on a target within a range of 0-2. The target takes 1 point of damage at the start of each round until the end of the scene. Damage from Hexes is not considered an attack. You can place multiple Hexes on the same target, but you can only place one Hex in a round. On your turn, you may remove all or part of the Hexes you’ve placed on a target as a free action.
Empower (Poker Face)
1/Scene
Grant yourself either the Calm or Excited status.
All Or Nothing (All In)
Free Action, 1/Scene
You may spend up to 12 Resolve to grant that amount of damage to an attack you just made.
Custom: Luck of the Draw
Major Action, 3/Episode
A basic attack is made, but altered according to a roll of 3d6 and the results table below. Free Action attack talents can still be applied, but they apply to any damage she takes from the ability too.
Relationship:
When Luck of the Draw is used, a 3d6 is rolled and the attack is altered according to the following table, with the card hand names simply being representative of what a roll might be fluffwise:
3-7, No Pair: The attack backfires, and Yua takes either the attack's damage roll or a Defense Overcharge point instead, specified when Luck of the Draw is declared. Roughly 16% chance.
8-10, One Pair: The attack is unchanged. No Overcharge is applied. Roughly 34% chance.
11-17, Two Pair: The attack gains 1d6 additional damage and deals the Bleeding condition. No Overcharge is applied. Roughly 49.5% chance.
18: If an 18 is rolled, apply 1 Attack Overcharge and then roll 2d6. If one or neither die is a six, it is simply a two pair. If two are sixes, it is a Royal Flush. If it is a Royal Flush, then the target is slain, with exceptions at the GM's discretion. Also, all hell breaks loose at the GM's discretion and imagination. Roughly .5 percent chance for an 18. Roughly .013 chance for a Royal Flush.
