Turn 6: The Crusade Begins
Om teaches the Tortons metalworking and architecture. The tortons begin to build true structures in their encampment and get several novice forges up and running. Yet the pace is slow and the quality of work is what is expected from beginners.
Triniteus, after much waiting and planning, transforms his land into a chaotic world of fire, ice, and lightning. At each moment the entire area is either one of fire, ice, or lightning, yet it may change to a different element at any moment. This rapid switching of elemental powers causes the land to be constantly dangerous and unpredictable. Here he places his Asthates, who will thrive in this chaotic landscape. Almost immediately the golems, beseech the Asthates for relief.
This land is angry, and makes us angry. We cannot protect this tablet from ice, fire, and lightning. We demand a sanctuary so that we may live in peace. Next Triniteus places the Grots within the world. A quater of the grots join the Asthates in the southern region. A Second quarter was placed in the northern region near the luminites. A third quarter was placed in the western quarter near the Torton settlement.
The final quarter was placed deep within the earth.
The grots placed here immediately find the region unpleasant. While resilient, they are not immune to the elements. They find shallow caves and overhangs where they can whether the harshest of elements. They hunt during the moments when the region is least chaotic.
The Northern grots are placed upon the ice field not far from Sancturn. They arrive just in tile to see a mountain be dropped upon the frozen bastion. With no other landmarks in any direction, the cold and confused grots make their way towards the new mountain.
The western grots find themselves to be inside of a giant orchard. Omnifruit trees in every direction. Land eels living among them and, with the exception of the orange slimes, the grots find the location amiable. They begin building a camp there. They soon find that they are somewhat capable of fighting the slimes, given enough wild thrashing and hits with omni-wood clubs. Yet this only dissuades the burrowing assassins temporarily.
The final quarter of grots find themselves deep within the earth. Here they feel right at home and begin exploring. Their creator being a titan of the earth, the stone and dirt of the underworld was somehow familiar to these strange people. After hours of exploring some stumbled upon the Ickyanthy camp, which was carved by their miners and was well lit and organized. The grots prepared to fight, but were instead welcomed by the ickyanthy. This surprised the grots so much they the didn't know what to do. They dumbly accepted the welcome and were shown the underground Ickyanthy city. Others found themselves the Dremonians, who were less hospitable. The cannibalistic slavers immediately attacked the new humanoids, but were mostly rebutted by the grots. Minor injuries and no casualties on both sides.
Much like the western grots, the grots placed within the eastern jungle find the area to be completely acceptable. In fact, they flourished here. They climbed the trees, ate the star fruits, and quickly discovered they greatly enjoy the Wing Slime honey. They could be seen climbing trees through a swarm of hundreds of winged slimes, just for a bit of honey. Soon enough the grots began bringing down the entire hive and keeping it in their camp for ease of access. *Grots discover beekeeping!*
Asteros begins nudging his tribal people towards civilization. First he teaches them writing, which allows them to express ideas and praise to Asteros in a more material way. This became more important as he taught the Alarri architecture. These two concepts were interpreted to go hand in hand, and many Alarri began writing upon their buildings.
The angel Ryalliph can be spotted flying over the world. He looks down at the affairs of mortals. He seems displeased, but does not act or speak.
As the war in the east comes to a close, after many weeks of disinterest by the gods, a new war begins. Like all wars, it is waged in the name of good and evil, with those on either side claiming to be good and the other evil. The Luminites have a three pronged attack. Approximately twenty percent of the Luminite population will travel to Berial's Continent. There they will attack from the south and slay any anorath who do not declare themselves as acolytes of Zelthen. The second front will be underground on the Continent of Gods (Official name still pending). The Luminte forces, of the same magnitude as the first force, will slay any dremonians that they can find. They shall give the Ickanthy the opportunity to join the crusade. The third prong will lay waste to the western forests, home to the tortons. They will burn omnifruit trees and take any torton young back to Sancturn.
The Luminite army marches out of the portal and finds themselves quite close to the Anorath encampment. They march upon the camp and what they find is horrifying by any standards. Many dead anorath's litter the street and fires rage. Their bodies on pikes, or cut into many many pieces. The luminite commander finds an anorath who is still breathing, but mortally wounded.
The Ravens. The Ravens did this. Without Pherse to control them, they went insane and declared themselves the new leaders of the tribe. Those that resisted were slain or imprisoned. Dozens were murdered and soon the entire resistance surrendered and were imprisoned in the keep. Terrible screams echo from those demonic halls.
The second Lumite army, numbering somewhere in the 220s, marches out of their portal into torton land near their encampment. Om had just recently taught the torton's metalworking and architecture, but they had not the time to utilize them before the Luminites attacked. Among the tortons several metal weapons and pieces of armor had been forged, but not nearly enough for everyone. Luckily for the torton's the area around their camp was littered with orange slime burrows, which killed many Luminites. However, when the luminites reached the torton camp, many were struck down. The Lumities had mastered combat techniques and trained for weeks for war, whereas the most tortons had never wielded a weapon in their life. While their new understanding of magic helped, it was not enough to pose a real resistance to the well equipped and well trained army. In the end, most tortons fled to the Lamia camp. About 200 tortons were slain and 100 captured. 700 escaped, with the assistance of Slaeve the god of medicine, who heroically intervened to transport the Tortons to safety. 70 Luminites were slain either by tortons or devoured by orange slimes. The torton camp is taken by the Luminite army.
When the Luminites entered the caves they found themselves at an impasse. The Ickyanthy and the dremonions occupy different sections of the caverns. Zelthen directs his crusaders to conquer the Ickyanthy cave first. The crusaders march upon the cave and demand surrender and conversion of all Ikyanthy. The crusaders thought that the Ickyanthy, the quiet worm people of the caves, would be easily conquered. How wrong they were. [/b] It seems that the Demon Pherse was not lying about teaching the Ignons fire magic. As soon as the crusaders make their demands, fireballs rain down upon the army. Whats more, over a hundred grots have been taken in by the Ickyanthy. What luminites that weren't slain by fire, were beaten to death by the bulging arms and legs of the grots. The luminites are decimated, only 20 escape into the caverns. The Ickyanthy have this to say: We, the Ickyanthy, will not be invaded by outsiders or dominated by foreign gods. We thank Xenraft for his patronage, but we shall not be dominated by god or mortal.
In the far north the god Xenraft unleashes his counter attack on Zelthen and the Luminites. High in the sky above Sancturn Xenraft crafts a mountain the size of a small island. It hangs there for a moment before falling towards Sancturn. It takes less than a minute before the island crashes into the icy bastion. Much of Sancturn is crushed, the rest buried. Survivors are few, far between, and wounded.Even if they survive their wounds, they are trapped beneath a mountain. Those in the Aubern wood glades outside of Sancturn survive, but have no way of getting to their fellows who are buried alive beneath the earth. Of the 300 some Luminites who remained at Sancturn, only 20 were outside gathering Abuernite wood. Slightly less than 40 inside Sancturn survive the initial destruction, but are burried alive.
Slaeve, still in mortal form, Takes her Luminites to Sancturn to rescue survivors. They manage to save thirty of the 40 who survived the attack. Leaving 50 Luminites alive and homeless in the northern region. Slaeve then flies over to the second continent, which takes a decent amount of time. Once they get there, they search for wounded Anorath. They manage to find about 20 anorath who are fatally injured, and manage to save 15 of them. Slaeve then moves to the Western Forest on the God's continent, where she sees Tortons being attacked by the luminite army. Slaeve swoops in and saves as many tortons as she can, ushering several hundred to the Lamia camp, safe from the danger of Luminites, Grots, and orange slimes.
As the world changes, two new gods join the pantheon. Sparked by the sudden increase in war and death in the world the the god Mir is drawn into the pantheon in order to bring peace to world. However, another god, Kyazir god of war, is also drawn in by ongoing conflict. The god Garix is removed from the pantheon, his duties involving the afterlife and the sorting of mortal souls, is now taking up too much time for him to meddle in the mortal world.
Four requests are posed to the pantheon.
The first request is made by an angel.
I am Uriak, angel of music. I see your world is without music. I pose a challenge to you gods, and a reward for the winner. The god who's mortals produce the best music, as determined by me, will receive an artifact created by me as well as special blessing for your mortals. Both of which are surprises worthy of your attention as a god. The second request comes from a powerful undead spirit They look as if they are a humanoid without skin, so that their muscle and sinew is clearly visable. Furthermore, they seem to have the ability to grow bone armor over their bodies at will. They seem to be the product of necromancy.
I am the Red King Rakuza. I am drawn to this world by the war and death it now contains. Please allow me to enter this world so that I may lead and army into battle. The spirit glows with dark energy, the result of devouring hundreds of souls. It would cost 14 points to bring into this world.
The third request comes from the Inax. With their god on vacation, they have been left unattended and are withering away in the divine realms, unable to truly exist. Bringing them into the world would cost 4 IP.
The final request comes as a strange note.
