The real issue is the writing load. I try to write fairly nice sized entry for each god (varying on the god's actions that turn) plus a paragraph or two about the events of the world and another little bit about requests. The more gods means more writing for me and slower updates for you. One, maybe two more may not make a huge difference and could be worth it particularly if they diversify the pantheon.

Short answer: I could add one or two more, but it could slow down updates a little.

What do you all think? Would the game benefit from having a slightly larger pantheon or no?
As someone currently running a god game of some sort, I support your decision of keeping the number low.

While adding more gods to the pantheon would feel far more interesting and lively, the increase in writing load will also increase the delay between turns and the risks of small burnouts.

So yes, adding more gods to the Pantheon would benefit to the game's diversity and overall fun, at the cost of longer delay and increase in probability of GM breaks.

Finally, keeping the number at 7 is a good choice in my opinion, as it allows fairly fast updates while still having a diversified pantheon. But of course, it feels sad and unfair for the waitlisted players...

Small note : I really enjoy your large block of texts upon each new turns, they are a pleasure to read.

Well, 7 is a lucky number after all. And KJP (Ye Gods) is a bit slow, though he also has about a quarter of the 20 gods not even doing anything.
So it's best to strike a balance.

But at least there's discussion to be had, I hope others tell their thoughts as well.
The worst kind of issue, is one that's never discussed.

I can see one more being able to be slotted into the pantheon, but it's no matter whether the number of players stays at seven or expands to me.

Rather, I just want to know how many are on the waitlist.

I agree with Nakečn, 7 gods seems a pretty good number to me. It allows for enough politic and alliances without slowing the game. I feel sorry for the people in waitlist though so if you want t take one or two more it's ok but i'd prefere keeping our numbers to seven.

Current Players
1: Om (Demonic Spoon) - Good
2: Sleeve (happy demon)- Good
3: Triniteus (Nakeen) - Neutral
4: Asteros (leonardo8) - Good
5: Xenraft (Crazyabe) - Evil
6: Zelthen (Ardent Debater) - So Good that He's Evil
7: Garix (snowdwarf) - Good/Neutral/Hasn't posted in a while.

Waitlist
1: Atian - Neutral
2: Cain (micelus) - Good, maybe neutral
3: Mir (Sentient Bowtie) - Good
4: Kyazir (Taricis) - Neutral

Here's another problem. Most Gods (just from reading their bio) are good or neutral. At the very least, they aren't inherently evil. Now not all good/neutral/evil gods will get along with other gods of their alignment. However, as it stands now, only one or two gods may be persuaded (by a particularly devious GM) to unleash monsters and mayhem upon the world. Not to say that any gods added to the game won't enrich it, its simply that even with those additions, the pantheon will be more and more good/neutrally aligned. Which takes some of the fun and balance out of the game.

Well, on the surface, yeah. Of course, gods with opposing spheres will likely collide, unleashing mayhem and carnage regardless if they're both of good alignment.

That is true, but not exactly what I meant. For example, only one god would release an abomination upon the world. No good god would really do that. So while there are significant interactions based on spheres, goals, and personality. The potential for interactions with certain evil NPCs is less. I hope that makes sense, its a bit hard to explain.

Well, depends on your definition of abomination. I can certainly cook one up, and I doubt the other's wouldn't do so if threatened.

Om might actually be willing to interact with evil entities(and get tricked no doubt), but the demon took entirely the wrong approach.

Also Asteros seems more neutral by now from my viewpoint, but that may be bias.

Finally, the current amount of players is good, I really like the detailed updates, and the fast pace. We seem to be going through the waitlist at a decent rate as I think we lost garix as well.

I do think you shouldn't do the waitlist voting again though. It probably just causes frustration.

I put together a rough map of the regions. They aren't perfect and don't necessarily match what the continents should look like exactly in game. I've just been using it to keep track of where everything is and thought that you all may want to utilize it as well. Remember: This map is neither detailed nor accurate. Its simply so I know where everything is in relation to everything else.

A web based program called Inkarnate. It's specifically for dungeon and terrain maps (for RPGs). I used to use my pixel art software for maps like this, but this is waaaay faster.

Edit: I tossed the map onto the top of the OOC. It may get updated every so often. I also put links between the IC and OOC threads in their OPs.

Well, actually Asteros is more of a neutral god than a good one. He will make you better and more "enlightened" whater you want it or not.
