Bio
There are only two things he remembers from his past life, his name and his passion. His name is Jack Liefeld and his passion is art, it has always been art even though he does not remember the reason. Jack is a bit of celebrity among the cultural elite within Farfield, his paintings selling for thousands and the air of mystery that cloaks him inspires only greater curiosity. It is a unique occasion that he makes his public appearances, usually only for special occasions such as opening a gallery or similar ceremonies. Everyone remembers his appearance, the handsome young charmer they assume that could get anyone they wanted.
It is a shame that it is all based on a lie. Every time the Jack goes outside he cloaks himself in this image and this persona, the handsome young mysterious artist that everyone would want to be. In truth he is sickly and frail, almost always plagues by some sort of illness and would get out of breath from just walking down the store.
The one person who know’s his secret is his manager Lilly, in fact it was her suggestion that he adopt in the first place. Jack met her purely by coincidence, simply living next door to her in the sprawling apartments that he called home. As she moved in she went to visit the neighbours and reluctantly Jack let her in. His paintings lined the walls, it was pretty clear that he hadn’t done anything else in years. She spent awhile looking at them, complimenting them and secretly taken aback by how skilled he was. They left on good terms and she visited multiple times in the coming weeks.
Eventually she broached the subject of his paintings and offered to help him sell them. At first Jack was hesitant, not really wanting the limelight or the attention but mostly not wanting to reveal himself to the world. He had never liked his appearance and that would only be exasperated by having to go into the world itself. Lilly however urged him and suggested something that would set his mind at ease.
From their conversations she knew that he had some skill with illusions, she suggested that instead of wearing his true face he would instead construct a false one. One that was whatever Jack desired. He was a lot more enthusiastic after this suggestion and began constructing his ideal persona, a while later he was introduced to the world as he sold his first painting and he felt a certain satisfaction at how he was seen.
Until recently this had been enough for him. As he drew more and more though, he started to realise something that he had never really thought about before. He could not shake the feeling that some of the pictures reminded him of something on the very edge of his memory. He could never place them and eventually the feeling would fade and he shoved it to the edge of his memory. As the days passed though he began to realise something he had never really thought about before, he could not remember anything before he moved here.
This only grew overtime and he spent more and more time dwelling over it, he couldn’t help but feel that something was wrong. His paranoia fueled this feeling until it almost overwhelmed him, he made less and less public appearances instead spending long nights staring at his paintings hoping for some spark of memory that he could cling to and remember. Some nights he even went out in the dark, dressed in a costume to hide him and searching for something, anything that would confirm his feelings.
As it stands now it has got worse than ever, his paranoia about discovery along with the worries about his past has almost overwhelmed him and Lilly has begun to notice the strange behaviour of her friend.
Description:
He stands at around 6’0” tall and is very thin, almost waif-like in his appearance. His body lacks even the basic hints of muscle and is as weak and scrawny as his outward appearance leads people to believe. His skin itself is a pale white as if it has never seen the sun, which is probably true in his case.
His eyes are a pale grey, deeply set and usually having prominent bags underneath them. His mouth is a thin straight line, lacking any form of depth. His face is clean shaven and surprisingly free of blemishes and scars. His hair is a pale white and obviously unkempt, forming a messy pile on top of his head.
His clothes are a messy affair, usually wearing a simple pair of jeans with a t-shirt. His clothes are wrinkled looking as if they haven’t been ironed in weeks. Overall he is the very image of unhealthiness.
The image he usually cloaks himself over with is an entirely different matter. A couple extra inches of height, tanned skin and muscles that would make the average male model feel inadequate. His face is beautiful and his eyes a brilliant emerald. His hair is blonde and styled. In essence he looks like the most attractive man he could think of, all essence of his true weak nature purges from him. His clothes follow the same example, being properly cared for instead of the dishevelled state they are usually in.
His costume is simple, a mottled collection of grey and black designed to hide him from sight. It hugs close to his skin and also has a cloak of the same colours. It also covered with an unusual amount of small pockets holding all sorts of useful things inside.
Aspects:
Connections: The various art dealers around the city along with a small collection of the city’s more cultured residents.
Lilly his manager and his trusted confidante.
Idenity: Jack Liefeld
Motivation: Hiding his true identity, finding out about his past and trying to find what hid it from him.
Challenges:
Personal:
Since he has been young Erase has been sickly and weak, never being able to really overcome it. Always afflicted by one kind of disease or another he has never been truly healthy and is usually accompanied by at least a hacking cough.
Personal:
Being alone for most of a person’s life generally leaves a person unaware of how to be social. This is doubly true for Erase who has little to no idea how to actually talk to people. Rather filling it up with pure bravado.
Personal:
Jack is paranoid. Paranoid about someone finding what he truly looks like, paranoid about the thing hiding his past. It is not healthy and leads to him only really trusting Lilly and even that trust is shaken sometimes.
Social:
Very very few people know what Erase looks like under his carefully crafted facade h. It is his most guarded secret and he only takes the image off when he is truly alone. This means that part of his concentration is always on it and keeping something like this up for a long time would be draining on even the most powerful being.
Drawbacks: I will personally feel this in for you, once I have accepted your hero for play. Tho you can post suggestions! Expect me to try and bring you in line if I think your hero has the potential to outshine the others a bit too much-or just add an interesting twist.
