Bio: Full bio in other spoiler; this is just what she knows at the start.
Radia has been in Farfield as long as everyone else, the town’s requisite disproportionately wealthy person. She doesn’t seem to actually
do much, except for host parties every month or so and attend the local community college. All she uses her powers for is light shows at those parties. Admittedly, they're pretty damn cool light shows. It’s unclear if she’s receiving money from somewhere, or just brought an obscene amount with her when she came to the town, as she lives alone in her rather large house. She says that it's just because her family is rich, but she can't really remember
why they're rich. In terms of interaction, she’d probably be a generally relaxed and friendly person, inviting people over often, and buying the occasional round of drinks at the local bar.
What Radia doesn't tell many people, is that she's bored. Don't misunderstand, she quite likes life in Farfield, but she doesn't feel like she's actually
doing anything with her life. She's taking classes, yeah, but for what? She'll just run a business in Farfield at most. She throws parties all the time, but those are just temporary relief from the day-to-day routine. She wishes
something of interest would happen.
Description:
In terms of appearance, Radia is about 5’3”, with a thin and curvacious build, and despite her apparent slacker-dom is in remarkably good shape. She has shoulder length black hair with a white streak, that doesn’t seem to be styled in any intentional way beyond keeping it out of her light hazel eyes. Her wardrobe varies wildly, from fancy dresses to jeans and a hoodie, with the only constant being that her clothes look rather comfortable.
In her “Aurora” guise, her hair goes completely white and her eyes glow gold, although this is more her using her powers. She changes her outfit to a white two-piece jumpsuit that shows her midsection with a grey half-jacket (that type that doesn’t go all the way to the waist) over it, and a full-face mask.
Aspects and ChallengesAspects:
Connection: Verana family
Motivation: Making a difference. Before her powers, she was sure she wasn’t going to make any real change to the world. With her powers, she wants to make a difference, in a good way.
Identity: Radia Verana, wealthy university student.
Flashiness: While Radia can be pragmatic when the situation calls for it, she takes great fun from fancy uses of her power, or acting like a comic-book hero, or anything else that could be considered “flashy” in the non-literal sense. Or occasionally in the literal sense, given her powers.
Challenges:
Weakness: Lack of light. While it does not directly harm her, Radia cannot use her light-based powers when there is not sufficient light to control. While she keeps several light sources on her person, this is not a perfect solution by any means. (Not sure if this would be a challenge or drawback).
Personal: Pride. Radia does not take insults well, sometimes. Something small or inconsequential, she's far more likely to ignore. But a personal insult, to her or her close friends, is not an intelligent choice.
Drawbacks: Shadowself: Radia has often given thought to the nature of duality...about light, and darkness. She had often wondered why she feels uneasy at times, as if being watched. And dreams do come, where she sees through other eyes...another world, like she saw before...only recently, has she become concerned that the accident caused something of herself to be cast off, a dark construct...or, perhaps she is the construct, and this being whom she feels instinctively knows her, is the real person...either way, Radia knows this being is eager for a reunion-a merging of whatever forces that were split in the original accident. The being of light she now is, however, knows this would be the death of the person who calls herself 'Aurora'.
Effect: During the accident, Aurora unintentionally spawned a hostile twin who controls the opposite of her powers-the ability to manipulate and embody the darkness. Her 'sister' ultimately seeks to absorb Aurora back into herself, making them whole once again...which unfortunately, would be fatal-at least metaphorically, for the both of them. This 'villain' is nearly unstoppable and difficult to dissuade, and will attempt to 'kill' Radia at every turn.
